Sustainability in Sports: Using Technology to Monitor Real-Time Utility Data Idea to Innovation: How the San Francisco 49ers Use Real-Time Analytics to Enhance the Fan ExperienceSustainability in Sports: Using Technology to Monitor Real-Time Utility Data
As part of the 49ers sustainability initiative, the Executive Huddle powered by SAP was upgraded with new capabilities allowing the team to monitor Levi’s Stadium utility usage, including water and gas consumption. Previously, the team was not able to get utility data in real-time, and now can identify anomalies, like leaks, sooner and fix them faster. The team can also review previous game data leading into large scale events, which can help direct how they might alter our utility usage throughout the year.
This has been achieved by installing six 3D-printed water and gas meter readers that feed data directly into the Executive Huddle. Technologies used to bring this solution to life include SAP BTP Hana Cloud, cameras and Rasberry Pi devices, and SAP Analytics Cloud. Hear how this unique addition to the 49ers analytics capability is supporting overall sustainability initiatives, further empowering efforts to maintain Levi’s Stadium as one of the world’s most environmentally friendly sports and entertainment venues.
Key takeaways:

Idea to Innovation: How the San Francisco 49ers Use Real-Time Analytics to Enhance the Fan Experience
With only ten home games a year, the 49ers needed a way to operationalize and visualize their data, in-real time, to help resolve stadium issues and improve the fan experience. Prior to the SAP BTP solution, the analytics and operations teams didn’t have insight into gameday issues fans faced until 2-3 days after the game, when analyzing the survey results. The Executive Huddle is a real-time SAP Analytics Cloud data center in a suite used for 49ers games and major events. It has over ten different data integrations feeding into SAP HANA Cloud. SAP Analytics Cloud enables the visualization of that data in the dashboards, which update every one to five minutes on game day, allowing the team to respond to fan issues in real time.
This initiative has allowed the 49er’s to optimize the fan experience by addressing feedback in real time, with most stadium issues resolved in 10 minutes or less, uncovered opportunities across retail, concessions, and stadium operations to resolve 200+ issues since the launch of the Executive Huddle and SAP BTP solution. Plus obtain more insight into the data through SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards which has led to a 43% increase in fan satisfaction.
Session Takeaways:
- How to take an idea or business problem and use SAP technology to entirely transform your business operations and continue to innovate year after year
- Examples and use cases of how to design SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards to provide actionable insights
- See the business impacts of an SAP BTP solution, and how they can be applied beyond professional sports

Automation Applied to Finance – Ensuring Your SAP S/4HANA Implementation is a Catalyst for Automation
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers and the largest manufacturer of tractors in the world. Part of their modernization journey with cloud included the transformation of their automation platform. M&M had initially started their RPA journey by developing their own RPA platform (mRAW). The platform was developed using open-source technologies, deploying over 300 RPA processes. However, the platform faced challenges in terms of its huge dependency on the IT team for developments.
Post migration to SAP Cloud, M&M opted for iRPA. SAP iRPA, being a low/no code platform, significantly reduced dependency on the IT team. SAP iRPA comes with pre-built connectors with SAP / allied systems as well as pre-built bots which have substantially reduced the deployment time and efforts. Leveraging SAP iRPA’s low / no code capabilities, M&M have trained their business users to create RPAs. This has created a multiplier effect and ensured business ownership.

Process-driven Software Development on BTP with BPMN and DMN
BPMN (Business Process Modelling Notation) is a widely used visualization tool for business processes. It provides an expressive and comprehensive way to represent complex business processes, making them easier to understand and manage. Its companion, DMN (Decision Model Notation), offers a standard approach for modeling repeatable decisions within organizations. Both BPMN and DMN have proven to be invaluable tools for organizations seeking to optimize their business processes.
But BPMN and DMN are not just suitable for modelling. They also allow for automated machine execution: in this session, an architecture is showcased that integrates a BPMN- and DMN-engine with SAP BTP as the business logic and data manager for running business processes. The setup is currently used in production by a global company for automated accounting assignments and controlling of purchase requisitions. Moving to SAP S/4HANA? What you need to know about Access Control Segregation of Duties (SoD) Control Monitoring and Automation – Lessons from Jabil’s Experience Building a Governance Capability & CultureMoving to SAP S/4HANA? What you need to know about Access Control
Jabil went live on SAP S/4HANA 1909 and fully migrates to the cloud on our largest manufacturing instance (over 40,000 SAP users) in January 2022, and during the pandemic. That was quite a feat and added a different dimension to challenges that no one could have predicted. We had several challenges to Access Control and Access Violation Management during this transformation period. Fortunately for the GRC team, there was a small installation of SAP S/4HANA 1709 a few years earlier and most of the new tcodes that would affect the Segregation of Duties (SoD) risk analysis had already been introduced to our global rule set. We still needed to review all the object changes, while leaving any deprecated tcodes or objects untouched as we still have several other SAP instances that are still in ECC. Collaborating with the implementation team and their partners was key to the success of the GRC portion of the upgrade. We upgraded GRC to V12.0 SP14 later that year and upgraded our Access Violation Management tool while the manufacturing instance went live on SAP S/4HANA.
Segregation of Duties (SoD) Control Monitoring and Automation – Lessons from Jabil’s Experience
Since Jabil’s first implementation of SAP in 1998, with only three manufacturing plants, to our current landscape of 100+ sites in 33+ countries, Jabil’s SOX compliance and monitoring has had to grow and adjust to the ever-changing environment. For many years, the Finance and IT departments worked through the growth with the early GRC tool (you may remember Virsa), but we still relied on external consulting for segregation duties, which became quite costly over time, and the business diversification that required additional levels of compliance due to U.S. federal regulations, not to mention our global growth into various countries and their regulations.
During this growth, many of our plants were treated as autonomous entities, as our customers needed very specific solutions to their supply chain demands. Roles and access in each plant were very different to accommodate the various customer needs. In 2015, took on the project of upgrading our GRC Access Control to 10.1 and in that upgrade, we did a major role redesign and brought standardization to all of Jabil’s manufacturing instances, while monitoring for SoD violations and providing the additional benefit of quantification monitoring.
Building a Governance Capability & Culture
Prior to the Access Control upgrade to 10.1 in 2015, the IT department owned the GRC Access Control tool. When the decision was made to move the ownership to the Finance department because of the responsibility of SOX compliance, they needed a team that understood and worked with all SAP modules, as well as a team that was experienced in change management and customer service. My experience with SAP is over 17 years in the FICO modules and it was a logical move to build the new team based on these factors. While it was an adjustment for the IT department to have a Finance team own the Access Control, it was crucial to our success to build a healthy relationship with all the departments we served and to know our customers’ needs. The customers were IT, of course, as well as Internal Audit, Financial Internal Controls, External Audit, SAP Support, and most importantly, the end users. There have been some stumbling blocks, but we have the magic recipe now, with a team that has some configuration experience in the various manufacturing modules and finance team members; with part of our hiring requirements is customer service experience and collaboration skills.

(Necessity is) The Mother of Invention: Securing Rapid Cloud Transformation Through Shared Fate Masterclass: DevSecOps, SecDevOps and Secure Cloud Transformation: Accountability Through Cloud Security Engineering What the SOC?! Clarifying the Audit Certificate Chain and Shared Responsibility(Necessity is) The Mother of Invention: Securing Rapid Cloud Transformation Through Shared Fate
“The future is already here – it is not evenly distributed.” Despite early adopters moving to the public cloud a decade ago, we are still at the beginning of Cloud Transformation. The impact of this change cascades through organizations in teams that you are unlikely to be ready for. A cloud-native approach requires a transformation that cascades well beyond developer teams into all layers of the organization. Cloud best practices haven’t been defined yet. Our established frameworks and playbooks built on decades of experience don’t apply well to the cloud, so how do we explain that to our colleagues, partners, auditors, and customers?
We face new security risks, but the cybersecurity industry is undergoing its own transition to the cloud, with vendors and offerings, and even market categories are constantly changing. Meanwhile, the major cloud providers mature their own services at a rapid rate. SAP navigated these challenges as our multi-cloud landscape grew rapidly, by adopting an approach of shared fate across the organization. Learn from our experience to secure your own cloud journey.
- Cloud transformation, as well as securing it, is HARD!! It’s a multi-dimensional problem that nobody is ready for and will put significant stress on the organization. How do you find your own way and focus on the basics, and not get distracted by the sexy, latest security buzz.
- How should we work towards the best possible security outcomes, among teams within each organization, and across partners and cloud providers.
- Hear how SAP operating at a scale most will never have to) and our peers are starting to share our own learning, missteps, and successes, and hopefully help you avoid some of the hard lessons we learned.
Masterclass: DevSecOps, SecDevOps and Secure Cloud Transformation: Accountability Through Cloud Security Engineering
As a cloud services provider, it is more important than ever to secure the software and services SAP provides. It is most efficient to manage this in the development cycle as much as possible through a DevSecOps approach that includes security controls every step of the way. However, we need to ensure our deployed landscape meets security and compliance requirements and also detects and responds to incidents.
Running scans across a landscape of 1,000s of cloud accounts, central tracking, and getting alerts into the hands of those that can do something about them requires its own engineering through a SecDevOps approach of a DevOps for security operations, involving data integration and enrichment with asset metadata and ownership information. This data enables organizational support structures of accountability that ensure any issues are addressed in a timely fashion. In this Masterclass, learn applicable lessons on how SAP “shifts left” and “shields right” to protect the cloud landscape in a cycle of continuous improvement.
- A deep dive into how SAP manages security through the development/DevOps cycle
- Lessons for post-deployment compliance and vulnerability scanning, the data engineering involved, reporting and tracking
- Building an organizational support culture and accountability structures that ensure findings are followed up, managers know security and accountability are part of their KPIs, and incentives.
What the SOC?! Clarifying the Audit Certificate Chain and Shared Responsibility
With a move to the cloud, more responsibilities are offloaded to other service providers, both directly and indirectly. For public cloud this turns into multiple layers of responsibilities across multiple parties both within SAP and down to the cloud provider, further complicating trust relationships. Contractual and regulatory obligations bind parties, while third-party audits for ISO, SOC, and PCI-DSS attest that security controls are in place and adhered to.
- This talk will show how the multiple layers of responsibility are managed within SAP, through central controls and compliance tracking for services provided by SAP Global Security and internal platform and infrastructure, and the solution teams, as well as how that extends into the cloud providers.
- The role of 3rd party auditors for different parties and their varying levels of experience with cloud landscapes, as well as the cloud maturity of the audit standards, and how that can complicate processes.
- How the combination of technical controls, brand reputation, economic interest, and legal practicalities further strengthen the security controls protecting customer data.

Go Beyond a Traditional Intranet and Empower Employees with a Personalized Workspace Improving Employee Experience with Embedded Listening Opportunity Marketplace – Putting Employees in the Driver’s Seat of Their Own GrowthGo Beyond a Traditional Intranet and Empower Employees with a Personalized Workspace
Most workers log in to at least 10 different applications to do work, handle HR tasks, find an expert, procure goods, and more. This increases stress and hurts employee experiences – and makes it harder to lead people in times of disruption and change.
Connect employees to boost productivity, increase retention, and drive engagement through communication, communities, and personalized and guided experiences from across disparate systems with SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone. Simplify work by surfacing the most relevant data, content, recommendations, insights, and actions at an individual level – all within the flow of work.
This session will explore the capabilities to create guided employee experiences and connect with third party systems to create a holistic employee experience through SAP Work Zone. You will come away from this session understanding the benefits of Work Zone, including how to:
- Create a personalized digital work experience for every step of the employee lifecycle
- Improve and simplify user experience when it comes to learning and development
- Connect with common user platforms like Microsoft teams to generate action and engagement within the flow of work
- Integrate with third party applications to create one central location for all key actions and data
Improving Employee Experience with Embedded Listening
We’ve heard it before – listening to employees can have a major impact on business performance and engagement, but how do you make sure you are doing it the right way? Companies need to listen frequently, understand the data, and take action to make improvements. This will ensure that change is being made and employee sentiments are taken seriously, so employees feel valued and heard.
Annual surveys are helpful to understand general issues, but that’s just one layer. Companies that want to make a serious change can’t rely on once-a-year interactions. They need to target specific moments that matter, to get in the right feedback.
Through discussion and demonstration, you will come away from this session understanding how embedded listening can automatically trigger during key moments that matter throughout an employee’s lifecycle and give companies key information on how their employees feel about important processes that affect them.
With Qualtrics touchpoints embedded through SAP SuccessFactors, you can:
- Listen to employees and candidates at the right time
- Provide a continuous feedback opportunity
- Understand the information captured
- Act quickly to create change
Opportunity Marketplace – Putting Employees in the Driver’s Seat of Their Own Growth
Employees want to reach their full potential. But when opportunities are difficult to find and the path forward is unclear, they can feel blocked and frustrated. What’s needed is a better way to connect employees to new opportunities – whether it’s connecting with a mentor, learning new skills, or even taking a fellowship to gain knowledge of a different area of the business. When employees can quickly access new opportunities and chart a way forward, a mindset shift occurs. Your people become more optimistic, and your culture becomes more forward looking.
Through demonstration and discussion, this session will dig into Opportunity Marketplace, both existing capabilities and future vision, and show how all employees can receive targeted recommendations when it comes to fellowships, learning opportunities, mentoring and open requisitions, and future career paths. This will allow your organization to:
- Create an agile workforce
- Improve mobility and retention
- Build a culture of continuous learning
- Upskill your workforce quickly

Leading the Enterprise Digital Growth with Finance: Aligning Business Processes to Systems Masterclass: Single Source, ONE Truth – Have Real Time Info Anytime!Leading the Enterprise Digital Growth with Finance: Aligning Business Processes to Systems
Finance sits at the heart of business operations which means system and business process changes anywhere within a business can impact finance processes. As business becomes more and more complex, having a complete overview of what is happening in the organization becomes more relevant, yet even more challenging. With Finance being an organization’s lifeblood, it’s even more critical for Finance professionals to have that visibility and not just become a passive and reactive end in the overall organization dynamics. Organizations have revolutionized their finance process by leveraging SAP’s Digital Core viz., SAP S/4HANA, enabling them to have a continuous “blood-check” of the organization, and even transforming it to a new level.
Unfortunately, some organizations that have implemented SAP S/4HANA Finance felt their business processes had not transformed as they wished and were still operating in their old ways, despite their new capability. There is a sense that SAP S/4HANA is a pandora’s box packed with more tools and capabilities than they understand. In this session will share the strategic driver for S/4HANA,
- the WHY: Why SAP S/4HANA is important and will discuss the expected business benefits which should not be compromised by the business.
- the WHAT AND HOW: WHAT finance business teams have achieved and HOW their journey looked like.
Key takeaways will include:
- Constituents required to enable finance transformation in a real way
- Processes that need special mention while moving on to SAP S/4HANA
- How do we avoid the business falling back into old habits
- Lessons learnt that should shape complex Finance transformation initiatives

Masterclass: Single Source, ONE Truth – Have Real Time Info Anytime!
A single source of truth means having a definitive collection of the information employees need to do their jobs effectively and efficiently. While everyone’s business transformation project is different, a single source of truth can lay a strong foundation for success by enabling a process-based approach, establishing a culture of transparency, and providing an opportunity for analysis and retrospection. Each of these benefits can go a long way in helping ensure your business transformation project not only succeeds but also is sustainable and more widely accepted.
The Universal Journal is developed to combine into one source of data. This single source of truth collects all accounting-relevant transactions into one table and makes them available to all relevant application components in ERP. Wow! That’s a great deal of simplification! The reports in all components use data from the same journal, known as Universal Journal.
This single source of truth is always reconciled by design and which you can enable business used to slice & dice data as per YOUR reporting requirements. At the end of the day, reporting is what matters for an Accountant!
In this session, we will do a deep dive into this Single Source of truth concept answer the following questions:
- Why Single Source of truth is important?
- What’s it all about?
- How do we get there?

What is Business Analytics? Starting with a Blank Page, Creating a Common Language
We typically go from data, model, decision, value. But value is subjective, and, in more instances than not, we miss the mark. Creating re-work, frustration, incurring more cost, chasing value. So why not start with defining value. Start by asking what’s the business problem we are trying to solve for? Sitting on the problem first, being patient with each other. This is not a luxury we have when we are constrained by tight deadlines, conflicting priorities. When we do choose to give ourselves permission to sit and listen and learn from each other, this is when the real magic begins.
- Identify and understanding your customer
- Taking time to understand the real-world problem you are trying to solve for
- Prototyping to inform design conversations with end-users
- Designing personalized dashboards different user personas

Business Transformation, Finance Transformation, and Hyper-automation – Finance Playing a Central Role! Adopting SAP S/4HANA – From a Functional and Technical PerspectiveBusiness Transformation, Finance Transformation, and Hyper-automation – Finance Playing a Central Role!
Transformation does not happen in a silo; it requires advancements in a combination processes, systems, people, and organization. And Finance is a critical, central role to make transformation happen: to support the organization at large, but also themselves change and transform towards the challenges ahead. Amplified by the upcoming end of the maintenance deadline for core SAP ERP/ECC, the urgency to ‘consider and debate and look ahead’ significantly increases.
In this session we will look at aspects of transformation within the organization and how process execution, especially (business model changes / shared services, and deployment of automation) play a key role – including recent benchmarking data and customer examples
- Business transformation – contributions and pre-requisites
- Finance transformation – from modernization, to digitization, to business model (process orchestration)
- Hyper-automation – key catalyst for finance transformation
- Transformation lifecycle – before, during, and after the initial S/4 implementation
Three key take-aways from this session include;
- Hear how Finance can contribute to your company’s digital transformation in critical ways
- How the Finance function itself can change in dramatics ways by adoption new, intelligent finance capabilities (and how)
- Transformation is not a “once-and-done” project, understand how and why the ‘initial step” is typically “just the first step”
Adopting SAP S/4HANA – From a Functional and Technical Perspective
The business case for financial system upgrades has shifted toward arming finance and accounting teams with the latest tools to support business model evolution for the digital economy. This represents a significant departure from recent trends, where the goal of IT technical transformation with TCO improvement was most popular year-on-year.
It’s even more amplified by the upcoming end of maintenance deadline for core SAP ERP/ECC the urgency to act rather increases.
In this session we will look at options, considerations, trends and what happens after the initial migration – from a functional and technical perspective – including recent benchmarking data and customer examples.
- SAP – S/4HANA Adoption options and commentary
- Customer – practical paths, and aspects of consideration
- Market – what our SAPinsider research on this topic found
- Transformation – what’s on tap and top of mind for finance
Three key take-away points from this session include;
- General awareness and calibration on options and paths towards S/4 and from then onwards.
- Critical factors driving “your journey” to an intelligent finance
- Understand and prepare for what moving to S/4 will mean to you as an individual, as a resource, and your company

Empowering Managers with Self-Service Real-Time Reports – The Story of the Great and the UnexpectedEmpowering Managers with Self-Service Real-Time Reports – The Story of the Great and the Unexpected
Auckland Council is the largest council in Oceania with over 10,000 staff servicing 600,000 ratepayers. Hear how our project delivered self-service, near real-time reporting to around 750 users. Prior to this they only got financial statements monthly in a flat file without drill-down analysis.
Users were surveyed before and after the implementation and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive with the new system hailed as a significant game changer in terms of financial reporting and budgetary control. With current inflationary and cost of living pressures, the need for accurate and up-to-date information is more pressing than ever.
- Context – Auckland Council Introduction
- Project Goals – move to self-service, near real-time drill-downable reporting.

The Future of Finance
Emmaleigh will be speaking about the evolution, and more excitingly, the future of finance departments. She will be discussing how finance teams can transform from ‘keeping the lights on’ to delivering the necessary insights for efficient business steering, and how managers can enable and empower the future generation of accountants. As well as discussing the transformation of finance departments more generally, she will also be showcasing some of the automation and other efficiencies in S/4HANA, as well as what it means to have a single source of truth with real time reporting and analytics at your fingertips.
- What does the future of finance departments look like and how to ensure you don’t get left behind.
- Retaining early talent in your finance team.
- How to automate using RPA.
- Analytics and other efficiencies in S/4HANA that finance teams can leverage.
Power To The Finance People
In a world of increasing complexity, automation and intelligence has never been more important, or more valuable, but time to value has remained a challenge for the business user. Exceeding expectation instead of just meeting it requires a different approach and relies on the exploitation of the capability at your disposal in a timely fashion. Automation is so much more than just a bot. In this session we will share examples of valuable automation opportunities through a combination of standard capability and simple extensibility.
You likely have access to more than you realise, focus on realising that potential, where to start leveraging potential value, consider what might be available in a later release that would incentivise an upgrade/planned upgrade of SAP S/4HANA. Time to value may be faster than you think. SAP BTP may be the path to greater automation both within and around your financial system of record.

Why the TypeScript Sheriff has come to clean up your JavaScript
JavaScript has been very widely adopted (e.g. with SAP UI5), partly because of its dynamic and expressive nature. The flipside of this flexibility is that it’s prone to runtime errors in a way that strongly typed languages, like Java, are not. Indeed, JavaScript has a ‘Wild West’ reputation in some quarters.
Is there a way to reduce these runtime errors without spoiling the expressiveness of the language? Indeed, there is! Come to this session to find out how TypeScript saves the day
After a basic overview we will cover some simple examples that show the benefits and how easy it is to make the switch. We will then focus on TypeScript in the SAP ecosystem. We will look at
- TypeScript with SAP UI5
- TypeScript with CAP for Node.js (The SAP Cloud Application Programming Model)
- TypeScript with the SAP Cloud SDK
If you’re a law-abiding developer-citizen (and not a cowboy) then there’s no need to fear the sheriff…come along to learn how to stay on the right side of the law.
SAPUI5 Nested Components
Large SAPUI5 applications can quickly become unwieldy. Long load-times, complex inter-dependencies, etc. quickly affect performance and maintainability. Breaking the application down into multiple small components is the answer but this brings its own challenges when you need these components to interact.
In this session I will introduce by example multiple nested components that work together to provide a seamless user experience, minimize code duplication, and simplify code maintainability. A special focus will be on routing.
Come expecting to see code – not PowerPoint!

Masterclass: Ensuring Payroll Accuracy in a Fully Integrated Environment
Between 27% to 33% of all organizations admit they have failed to find and correct payroll-related errors. The real impact of paying your people incorrectly is that 24% of employees start to look for another job after just one payroll error, this increases to 49% after they experience 2 payroll errors. The cost of replacing these disengaged employees is huge, taking valuable time and resources away from delivering outcomes to your customers.
In today’s modern cloud-based world, payroll systems are often no longer standalone systems that are maintained separately from other environments. With a trend towards end-to-end employee lifecycle management, payroll is fast becoming dependent on data being entered and maintained correctly in source systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, and then being replicated to payroll solutions. Often data errors are discovered during the payroll process, or after the process is complete, resulting in incorrect pay for employees. Understanding how organizations can ensure that payroll remains accurate, whilst still benefiting from the efficiency of a fully integrated environment is key to success. Furthermore, leveraging automation in the payroll process using tools such as the Payroll Control Centre along with robust reporting tools enables an efficient payroll process will enable Organizations to achieve more with their payroll systems, resulting in happier more engaged employees.
This masterclass will be an interactive session, with key takeaways being:
• What is the best strategy for integrating your payroll solution with your HR solution?
• How can you ensure that data remains accurate throughout the entire employee lifecycle?
• How can payroll processes be automated to simplify the reconciliation process?
• What tools and solutions can be used to enable more efficient payroll processes?

Innovating to Maximise Existing SAP HR & Payroll Investment
Enterprise wide software implementation projects are complex and require significant investment. Rather than embarking on major projects there are often ways to increase the benefits of your existing SAP implementation using tools and technologies you already have. In this session Glencore Coal Assets Australia (GCAA) share examples of how they have been able to take bite-sized innovation steps to get more from their existing SAP investment. This session will give you some cost effective and tangible ideas that you can take away and implement, without a big bang transformation or budget to match. Use case examples from GCAA will include practical examples of how Glencore has innovated without implementing new technologies by:
• Automating processes to reduce human effort with a Hiring Robot.
• Developing a rapid prototyping methodology to stand up Power BI reports, before committing to a full data warehouse development.
• Using existing SAP licenses for products you may not know you have i.e. Payroll Control Centre.
• Extending existing functionality by re-using data to improve other business processes including managing employee overtime and attendance using gate pass (clock on clock off) data and SAP Time Evaluation.

Integrating Ingham’s Complex SAP Landscape with SAP BTP Integration Platform
ANZ-based Food Manufacturer, Inghams, began a Business Transformation journey in 2021 enabled by RISE with SAP S/4HANA. Before the transformation Inghams had been operating with a 20 plus years legacy ERP, with more than 100+ applications and multiple data sources. The transformation would enable the business to sharpen its responsiveness to supply chain challenges and ensure business decisions were no longer being made in silos.
A key piece of the transformation journey was to ensure the right integration tool was being used to connect the SAP S/4HANA instance with the (now) 45+ bespoke and cloud applications, including SAP MSG, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). Options were to optimize the existing integration tool Informatica, move to SAP Process Integration and Orchestration (PI/PO), or take advantage of full cloud offering via SAP BTP.
This session will share the evaluation process undertaken with Emphasys to identify the integration needs of the business, why SAP BTP Integration Platform was the right tool for the job, and how the project was delivered.
- SAP as an enabler – SAP BTP future capabilities aligned with Ingham’s strategic technology vision
- The evaluation criteria used for integration tool selection (Informatica, vs SAP BTP integration platform vs SAP PI/PO).
- Understanding upfront costs when selecting an integration tool, versus overall TCO (it’s not always as it seems)
- Considering usability and the skills required for ongoing maintenance, post-go-live
- Using SAP SLT (SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server) to move data and mirror tables
- The impact of integration on SAP licensing

Government of Tomorrow is Agile – Technology for Government to Respond in Agile and Flexible WaysGovernment of Tomorrow is Agile – Technology for Government to Respond in Agile and Flexible Ways
Today, Governments at all levels are under ever increasing pressure to provide essential services, with finite resources, while adapting to dynamic changes like natural disasters, economic plans, and changing citizen expectations. The Australian public service is highly efficient and effective,
but traditional structures are being tested by changing expectations and unpredictable forces. Regardless of if you are moving toward GovERP in the Commonwealth government agencies, or operating in State and Local governments agencies, government must reshape itself and leverage
technological and analytics innovations to make agility a new competence for the next generation.
Today SAP will outline our experience in working with Governments to help them operate more cohesively, collectively and collaboratively in ever increasingly dynamic environments by:
- Harness the strategic value of data and improving decision making confidence: The ultimate value comes not from solving a single problem but from establishing a data-driven platform that can be leveraged to provide actionable insights for any given problem as well as the
interdependencies between problems, and drive insights to outcomes Engaging citizens meaningfully with the power of data: - Leverage data as an asset in these citizen-facing operations to meet the expectations of
citizens and deliver seamless services - Better leveraging the unique value of the Government workforce ecosystem: Imagine the ability to unlock the unique value that the Public Sector workforce delivers through providing better employee experiences and enabling a more empowered public sector workforce
