Cloud ERP Drives Back-Office Digital Transformation

COVID-19 exposed weaknesses in every organization’s back-office system. The inability to easily access data, enable self-service capabilities, and intelligently automate processes has created demand for self-driving and autonomous ERP solutions. Add the shift to the cloud, the pressure of digital transformation, and replacement-cycle dynamics, and customers are seeing the greatest level of innovation in a decade.

R “Ray” Wang is the CEO of Silicon Valley based Constellation Research Inc,, He co-hosts DisrupTV, a weekly enterprise tech and leadership webcast that averages 50,000 views per episode and blogs at www.raywang.org.  His ground-breaking best selling book on digital transformation, Disrupting Digital Business, was published by Harvard Business Review Press in 2015. Ray’s new book about Digital Giants and the future of business titled, Everybody Wants to Rule The World will be released July 2021. Wang is well quoted and frequently interviewed in media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Fox Business, CNBC, Yahoo Finance, Cheddar, and Bloomberg.

Transforming Business from Transaction Machines to Decision Machines to Drive Profitability and Growth

Transforming Business from Transaction Machines to Decision Machines to Drive Profitability and Growth

For decades, IT departments have been focused on processes and transactions. Not that transactions are unimportant; of course they are! But they’re important in the same way breathing is. You need to do it, and do it well, but you shouldn’t have to think about it. Successful organizations are now finding ways to move beyond this focus and are transforming their businesses from “transaction machines” to “decision machines”, leveraging the elements of Productivity, Agility, Business Transformation, and Sustainability. In this talk, we’ll discuss a business-oriented framework for the exploration, evaluation and execution of IT initiatives tied to digital value transformations aimed at boosting profitability and growth.

And if anyone would know what SAP’s biggest customers are doing to create advantage, it’s Don Mahoney. Don is SVP and Global General Manager of the Platinum Customer Unit at SAP. SAP’s Platinum Customer Unit focuses on leading the global business, digital transformation, and executive engagement with the company’s largest and most strategic customers. He also sits on the Advisory Board for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship at the Villanova School of Business, and the Industry Advisory Board for the Consortium of Digital Enterprises at Penn State University.

Cloud Payroll: Debunking the Risk When Moving to the Cloud

The decision to move payroll to the cloud is not an easy one for most organisations. Most Businesses that are looking at implementing SuccessFactors are keeping their payroll instance out of fear of failure. We are going to look at several areas within the Payroll process where organisations can be better informed and reduce anxiety during their decision-making process when migrating to SAP Cloud Payroll. We’ll focus on the areas that are typically the most concerning and see how the risks are mitigated, such as:

  • Implementation journey – is it that different or have we overhyped the implementation?
  • Data security concerns and how to overcome them
  • Failure risks within payroll processing
  • Benefits of a cloud environment

The Power of Ambition – There is a Better Way to Supercharge the Outcome of your Strategy

Every day, in every company and organization around the world, leaders are making mission-critical decisions on how they will execute their business strategy.

Leaders at non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, Fortune 100 companies and Main Street small businesses all know that everyday is an opportunity to make progress or to lose momentum.

It is the choices they make on what to do and what not to do, and how work will get done that will move them and their organizations forward or move them backwards.

And as a result, the pressure is on to make the right decision every single time.

The Ambition Method™ is anchored in behavioral science and decades of observation on organizational performance, and aims to answer this singular question that every leader has asked:

SAP Code Management in 2021

SAP Code Management in 2021

How do developers manage their SAP code? ABAP developers used to just trust in the SAP Change and Transport System (CTS) and not think too much about this. Java developers were pushed towards CTS+. SAPUI5 developers were left to their own devices until they needed to deploy something. And in the cloud …?

Let’s discuss how you manage your code. What are your personal “best practises” and how do they fit in with corporate guidelines? What SAP tools do you use? What else do you use? What are the biggest stumbling blocks to effective SAP code management? What could SAP do to help? Please bring your own experiences and ideas to this discussion – along with an open mind.

SAP and AI Unlock 50 years of Run Data to Deliver Value for IRONMAN

Sydney’s iconic City2Surf is the world’s largest fun run, attracting up to 80,000 runners annually.

Last year, to celebrate the 50th running of the event, SAP worked together with IRONMAN Oceania, who own the world-famous Sun-Herald City2Surf run, to digitise their historical race records allowing them to better understand the demographics, who’s running the race, where they’re from, what’s their performance, and to celebrate participants who have run multiple times.

This analytics innovation project brought together multiple sources of data, including images and archived paper-based results from the early years, using the SAP Business Technology Platform including analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence to extract names and numbers for where they placed and the times they ran the race in.

Come and join this session to understand more about how data visualisation is helping the City2Surf to turn their race data into actionable insights.

The Digital CFO – Think Beyond Tomorrow

Live Interactive Meet Up

Accounting has long been a traditional function that has only improved by using technology, but it would be fair to say there is still significant opportunity for finance to benefit from further improvements. Consider the difference between a single year budget and a probability approach. The requirement for agility is key for finance and that’s not achievable without significantly more automation. Whilst the future is impossible to accurately predict, data trends reveal key information, but are difficult to navigate without a clean data set.

Finance has never experienced a revolution, and revolutions seem impossible until they are inevitable, and whilst the recent turbulent times were not a revolution for finance, more just a bump in the road that they adapted to, isn’t it time for finance to reap a productivity dividend from automation, which for some organisations that rely on manual accounting, would be a revolution. Technology is moving at a faster pace than finance, so quick time to value has never been more important, and the expectations from finance professionals is to achieve a better return on their investments in technology, not just to the bottom line of the profit and loss, but to their capacity, allowing highly intelligent individuals to be free of the shackles of manual work and spreadsheets. Layers of automation are achievable, but finance need the flexibility to fine tune business rules to continuously improve outcomes and adapt to new business situations. In this session we will discuss examples of how finance strategies can be planned considering the requirements of today as well as tomorrow and focus on how team members collaborate effectively when you are in fact alone.

Getting the Business Ready for the Technology

Live Interactive Meet Up

Technology is a critical part of a business’ operating model, but the other six segments also deserve some attention. How your organisation treats processes, data, people’s roles and organisation, policies, and performance measurement is equally (if not more) important than the software which enables it. By getting your business ready for the technology, you are able to straighten out tangled processes, resolve inconsistent data models, and ensure people know what they need to do. Once you’ve got that far, implementing new technology in a standard, “out of the box” manner is much more straightforward, and yields much higher benefits.

Accessing the People Data we Need to Succeed – the Ongoing Systems Access Challenge

Employee and origination information is needed to support most workflow processes from identity management, budgeting, hardware support to sales approvals, and most importantly to support people processes (remuneration, talent etc.). In a time where data privacy legislations are being amped up, how do originations provide the right access to a multifaceted user base? Without it becoming an administrative extravaganza. Here we talk about Fonterra’s journey, including systems-role based access design, business maturity considerations and governance approach.

Presented by Tina Lundkvist, Head of People Analytics, and Karen O’Sullivan, HR Operations Process Lead, Fonterra

Is Your SAP Finance Environment Keeping Up as Business Models Change?

Is Your SAP Finance Environment Keeping Up as Business Models Change?

Traditional borders between industries are blurring. Where there once were product-driven industries and service industries, we now find car companies selling mobility services, agri-nutrient companies selling fertilisers to individual farmers and retailers moving almost completely online, changing the requirements for billing and controlling.

As the business world becomes more volatile, finance organisations are expected to deliver better quality information faster. Again, where once corridors were full of paper lists, now managers expect to find a smartphone app with a list of critical open items and key actions.

Nobody is prepared to wait for the period close to see their margins or the consolidated view of their business. As business models change, Finance is expected to deliver better steering information and advise their business rather than simply checking the numbers are correct. These topics are covered in “SAP S/4HANA Finance – The Reference Guide to What’s New” and this session will dive into the reasons why organisations have begun a transformation and what they have achieved.

  • How industry requirements are changing and how this is reflected in the software
  • How the requirements on a finance organisation are changing and how SAP S/4HANA Finance supports this
  • How reporting requirements are changing and organisations are looking to introduce new steering models

How to Improve an Organisation’s Risk Awareness with Business-centric GRC

Organisations have been struggling to derive value from their GRC investment since the inception of GRC solutions. Coupled with this, business users often perform compliance tasks with minimal intent and / or consideration to the impact on business. The technical nature and complexity of SAP security and GRC means that ownership typically remains an IT problem.

In this session we will articulate the techniques and strategies to successfully shift access risk from IT to the business, thus enhancing business accountability and buy-in. This will ultimately improve an organization’s overall risk awareness and ability to manage their risk.

How Opal Rapidly Migrated SAP on Azure in Three Months

Opal is one of Australasia’s leading packaging and paper companies, part of the Nippon Paper Group.

Opal’s key driver in migrating their SAP environment from their existing infrastructure provider was risk management along with having a support orientated catalyst for change, specific to their SAP environment. A key question they needed to answer was whether they could re-platform from AIX to Linux and migrate within already aggressive timeframes.

Realtech, Opal’s preferred SAP partner, partnered with Macquarie Cloud Services to offer a low-impact rapid migration pathway that delivered immediate benefits for Opal, including:

• A robust Disaster Recovery Solution
• The ability to immediately upgrade infrastructure and support a future move to SAP S/4 HANA.
• Greater infrastructure stability and cost-effective services architecture (via Azure Hybrid Benefit).
• Flexible Azure support and knowledge transfer.
• Unrivalled level of customer service based on an industry-leading NPS score.
• An innovative & market leading Microsoft Partnering approach

Learn about the consideration factors in a rapid migration of infrastructure and how the team effectively and seamlessly achieved SAP migration on Azure in under three months.

Delivered by Richard Kirby of Opal Group, Andrew Spicer of Realtech and Naran McClung, Macquarie Cloud Services.

SAP Program Insights: the Defence ERP Journey

Defence ERP is a major transformational program delivering Defence Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). It will standardise, simplify and align processes across all Defence Groups and Services with an integrated system and consistent way of working.

The Program will be rolled out in tranches (stages) and will span logistics, Defence materiel maintenance, finance, HR, engineering, estate and deployed systems. The single ERP system aims to achieve a near real-time view of critical information across Defence to better inform decision making. SAP S/4HANA was selected as the single integrated system that will unify 14 different groups and is expected to help rationalise up to 500 systems across the department.

In the midst of a global pandemic, the Program has already delivered a streamlined Defence finance enterprise structure in SAP S/4HANA to support improved financial reporting and analysis, and provide the foundation for future releases of ERP.

In parallel, the Program has completed solution design for the first tranche, is well progressed with design for its second tranche, and has completed planning for its multiple release third tranche.

This session will share insights and nuances on this complex program, including;

  • The program scope – functional and technical, including SAP Secure cloud
  • The ERP approach, method, and adopt versus adapt
  • What’s been achieved and lessons to date
  • Implementing through the COVID Pandemic
  • Timeline
  • What’s next

Taronga Conservation Society Australia Improves Workflow Efficiencies with Innovative Use of SAP Cloud Platform

Mark Kemp of Taronga Conservation Society Australia joins Selim Ahmed of Bourne Digital in conversation.

Taronga Zoo staff need to regularly raise Purchase Orders for animal feed, medical supplies and business critical items around the Zoo. Based on several hectares of land, the process of manually writing out and hand-delivery PO’s to the Purchasing team for manual processing is time-consuming and cumbersome for staff members stationed across different parts of the site. Additionally, there was a growing need for greater uniformity and efficiency for issuing site-wide alerts to all staff and quickly being able to complete administrative forms online.

Taking a digital first approach, Taronga and Bourne implemented a Fiori-based application named ‘StaX’ to address these requirements. Having upgraded their ERP to SAP S/4HANA they were now able to marry the workflow of purchasing to a technology first, mobile solution on the SAP S/4HANA database and streamline additional form-based workflows to alleviate some of the administrative burden on ground-staff. The benefits have been consistency in purchase requests, reduction of time to approval and an increase in employee experience. The StaX application is now a quintessential part of staff day-to-day operations at Taronga.

Cyber Resiliency in the Face of an Evolving Threat Landscape

The cyber attack on Solar Winds and the thousands of enterprises that rely on their software to monitor the operations of network devices represents a tectonic shift in threat actor tactics that enterprises must now adjust for. The software supply chain poisoning by Russian criminal hackers represents sophisticated skills and stealth in posing as developers to install malware (Sunburst) that impacted thousands of enterprises. We know the lessons learned from this attack:
1. Apply Identity, Access Management (IAM) controls to those developers with access to software code repository management systems (like GitHub)
2. Include software repository management services in the 3rd party governance programs and apply appropriate controls for SAS services
3. Implement workload runtime protection capabilities that is capable of blocking malicious software the finds its way into software workloads

Jim Routh is one of the cybersecurity industry’s preeminent visionaries and leaders. He is widely known for conceptualizing and executing world-class cybersecurity strategies at the most complex and recognizable industry brands in the world, serving as the Chief Information Security Officer for MassMutual, Aetna, KPMG and American Express.

He has specific expertise as a transformational security leader focused on applying risk management discipline to a converged security function for global enterprises to achieve enterprise resilience. He has a demonstrated track record of designing security control using innovation and data science to align senior executives to deliver world-class level security capabilities that drive positive business results in a digital world.

Prioritizing Data as a Strategic Asset

Prioritizing Data as a Strategic Asset

Data is a critical business asset, whether that’s realized to its full potential is up to the business. From the top down, it’s important to be excited about the potential that data transformation can make in the lives of employees, the health of the business and of the planet. How an enterprise prioritizes data as a strategic company asset will determine its survival, growth potential, and competitive advantage.

The historic lack of attention to data was highlighted during Covid-19 when businesses were severely limited in their ability to generate the insights required to make critical business changes. Since that wakeup call, there has been a massive shift in its prioritization. Rather than data being looked at as a back-office IT function, the focus has moved to how data supports new business processes, productivity improvements, financial performance, and global sustainability.

Join Rex Ahlstrom; Global CTO of Syniti, as he discusses what are the cost and implications of bad data and how business executives can then make more informed decisions with improved data management.

AGILE IN FRAGILE TIMES: Emerging Stronger with Business Agility and Adaptable HR

Masterclass

As we continue to emerge from the disruption of 2020, we know that businesses have changed; work has changed; and, workers themselves have changed. The human side of work has become more important than ever in these fragile times and changing workplace dynamics mean that business agility is imperative in 2021 and beyond.

The pandemic necessitated an abrupt transition to distributed work models with many people thrust into a remote work environment for the first time often lacking the resources they would need to remain productive and struggling to adapt to a forced convergence of work and life. Compelled to react to these dramatic shifts, businesses have dispensed with the strategies and plans that they mapped in 2019 and have, through necessity, become more agile and adaptive in order to thrive in an emerging new normal. The accelerated digitization of work shifts the goalposts and opens up tremendous competitive advantage for those who approach it with optimism and are adaptive to a constantly changing world.

There has never been a more important time for HR leaders to step up to the challenge of navigating their organizations to the future of work – which has become the “Now of Work” overnight. How you approach these challenges will determine the course of your business and its people long into the future. It’s up to us, HR, to set an agenda and lead the reset toward building a more resilient and adaptable HR function.

Learn how organisations who adopt Adaptable HR functions are emerging stronger across several parameters. This session will focus on 3 key attributes to support and empower adaptable and agile HR in your organization.

  • Governance – moving from a “project” to “program” mindset to ensure your current and future cloud HCM technology investments evolve to deliver a more adaptable framework for continuous improvement
  • Experience – in the Digital Age, Employee Experience matters more than ever – instead of implementing technology, we show you how to deploy human capabilities by understanding how people data allows you to personalize and consumerize workforce experiences allowing you to humanize technology to deliver adaptable HR.
  • Design – The key to delivering transformation that sticks is to design workforce experiences that inspire and fuel change. Processes generate data, journeys create feelings. The only way to personalize experience is by knowing your people. We will show you how to consider a whole-person approach to designing and optimising solutions for your people.

What Are You Truly Mastering in Finance?

Masterclass

Are you fatigued by repeatedly hearing `pandemic’, `COVID-19’, `the new normal’, `remote working’? We can all acknowledge that recent times have brought about change, but where something is done is less important to how it is done and when it is done in finance, and more importantly, the ease of doing it combined with the accurateness and completeness of it. Finance have navigated the choppy waters of recent times and haven’t drowned, but if you want to be successful and embrace digital transformation, you can’t just end at the border of an ERP/SAP System. Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% taking notes, so in this session we will explore:

  • Why playing with custom automation will marginally move the needle towards success and why for many businesses it has not delivered the benefits that were promised, has left businesses with fragmented technology and disconnected data, but there is a better way
  • Why streamlining process that include automation and native integration change how we work and why where you work is only a distraction and shouldn’t be the focus
  • Why capacity issues aren’t just holding you back from better operational efficiency, it’s related to many hidden costs and risks
  • Why using modern accounting can make you the employer of choice and why the future of finance isn’t just digital technology

Part 2 – Let’s build a Cloud Application Programming Model application. We will use the latest in CAP modeling and development tooling to create a CAP application, add Fiori UI and extend the basic project to include HANA native artifacts and tooling as well.

Section 3 – But I’m an ABAP developer. Let’s bring the workshop back around to where most of us started – ABAP. Although ABAP tooling isn’t official offered outside of Eclipse; let’s look at the state of community tooling in VSCode. Also let’s see how CAP, Fiori, and HANA tooling plays alongside the ABAP development experience.

Managing Identity Security and Access Risks in the Cloud

Masterclass

This masterclass will provide insights into the important aspects an Identity centric security model approach, share current industry trends and good practice applications of tools and activities that can help put Identity at the centre of your information security strategy. The class will deep dive into how this approach can be applied to manage governance, risk, and compliance in an increasingly complex SAP environment by allowing you to simplify your SAP role model and fully automate access governance and administration processes.

This masterclass will cover the following areas:
1. Putting identity at the centre of your security for cloud applications
Protecting high value digital assets of an organisation has moved from perimeter based security to a Identity centric security model. Reducing risk of unauthorised access and improving productivity of an increasingly remote workforce is more critical in a world that is transforming into a zero trust model, with Identity Security at the core to ensure the right people have the right access at the right time.

2. Cloud access risk management for SAP applications
We will deep dive into how new technology can be applied to manage governance, risk and compliance in an increasingly complex SAP environment. This can be used to assist in the simplification and migration of a legacy role model to one that reduces risk and lends itself to further automation and consolidation of access governance and administration.

3. Case study: reducing access risk in preparation for S/4 HANA migration
We will show a leading Australian organisation reduced their access risks by 98% and elevated their SAP governance to the next level of maturity to meet their internal compliance and audit requirements. Learn how this strategic foundational initiative can prepare you for future access automation and enable an easier transition to S/4 HANA.

Mastering SAP Data Migration and Master Data Management

Open

Mastering SAP Data Migration and Master Data Management

Masterclass

There are two parts to the masterclass: 1) Planning Your Business Transformation and Move to S4/HANA, and 2) How to Master Your Data, Not the Other Way Around.

Rarely will a data migration take place in a vacuum. There are reasons why it needs to be done. Sometimes these are purely technical but mostly, there are business drivers. The shift to SAP S/4HANA is a perfect example. Delivering trusted data is paramount and when planned and executed successfully, you will be able to orchestrate, track, validate, and report on end-to-end project activities easily.

Processes that action master and application data can take an unnecessarily long time to complete when manually orchestrated by humans or paper — delaying the availability of the most up-to-date data. The quality of this data is usually poor because humans often make inadvertent mistakes during data entry. And because it is maintained across many disparate and disconnected business systems, it is difficult to tap into this data through analytics, machine learning, and report generation technologies.

This masterclass explores:

  • How businesses can orchestrate processes that enforce the entry of the highest quality master and application data
  • Ensuring the right people correctly actioning the right master and application data at the right time
  • Creating a single point of reference to master and application data from multiple domains and business systems
  • Using AI and machine learning to automatically capture your continuous learning

Organic Valley’s SAP S/4HANA Greenfield Implementation: New House! Old Furniture?

Organic Valley, a $1.2B dairy cooperative based in the United States, is in the middle of an ERP migration that is moving the business from a dilapidated and cluttered ERP system to the greener pastures of SAP S/4HANA. In this allegorical telling of the unfolding transformation, we’ll reveal the complexities and new discoveries of moving data from the old to the new system.

  • As we move furniture (data) from the old house (legacy ERP) to the new one (SAP S/4HANA) what really matters and who gets to decide (master data governance)?
  • Should we fix the broken dresser drawer or replace it with an armoire (data quality)?
  • Can we live without the family heirlooms that we’ve been keeping in the attic (understanding the value of data)?
  • Will the couch even fit in the new living room or should we only keep the recliner (fit-to-standard)?
  • How do we tell the kids (OCM)?
  • Do we care what the neighbors will think… (application integrations)?!?

Getting SAP S/4HANA Foundations Right

Claus Repenning CFO, Electranet

Getting SAP S/4HANA Foundations Right

In May 2021 ElectraNet successfully went live with SAP S/4HANA.

The project was put in place as ElectraNet responded to the maturity of the existing technology stack, but also recognising the benefits we could get in the long run from upgrading our current SAP solution. To ensure we deliver a robust outcome and build strong foundations for future growth, ElectraNet applied a 2 phased approach to the project.

Firstly, a laser like focus was applied to upgrade the core, moving our existing SAP environment into SAP S/4HANA.. Secondly, we looked at innovations, with a focus to streamline processes and leverage the additional functionality. This allowed us to remove customisation, hence becoming more efficient whilst also gaining functionality, which we consider a win-win.

The project’s success can be traced back to sticking to the clearly defined and simple scope and selecting a proven delivery partner. Defining the scope and having a strong partner materially de-risked the project and ensured our ability to deliver to budget and meet all stakeholders’ requirements.

Looking to the future, ElectraNet is excited about the optionality S/4HANA provides us with and how it links to other aspects such as SAC. However, for now we are enjoying operating in a robust and modern environment.

Driving Governance at Bridgestone

It is unavoidable that there are risks in every business. It’s crucial to be able to identify segregation of duties and apply mitigating controls against the risks. Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand use Soterion as a tool to ensure that we meet J-Sox audit requirements and authorisation standards.

One of the key functions of the tool is that it allows us to run a simulation before a role is created or access is assigned to users, then highlight conflicts if any. It provides a short description of why this change will cause segregation of duties. The tool has increased the visibility of risks in the business and assists us in reviewing controls.

Jess will take you through a journey of how we used to maintain segregation of duties, the problems we faced, and why Soterion is a solution that we adopt.

Using Fiori to Harmonize Self-Service at Australia Post

Using Fiori to Harmonize Self-Service at Australia Post

Most of AusPost’s core employee & manage self-service tasks were completed offline, or in a clunky complex online form, inaccessible on mobile / off network, not fit for purpose and not harmonised across our workforce. Given we aren’t moving to a cloud based solution (such as Employee Central) for a few years yet, we began developing Fiori apps to act as the overlay. This has allowed us to innovate, harmonise, improve and optimise manager and employee self-service processes in an ongoing agile manner.

  • Org Chart functionality for all entities
  • Key Manager Self Service tasks, such as Cessation, High Duties, approving leave & timesheets
  • Suite of tools for Organisational Management
  • Apps to support allowances, deductions & expense reimbursements
  • Employee Profile
  • Equity & Diversity
  • Employee Pay & Leave (leave management, including purchased leave, digital pay slips)

We have an active ongoing pipeline for Fiori that we will maintain heading into FY22.

Our benefits have been:

  • Improved harmonization across our workforce segments and entities
  • increased uptake of self-service tools to HR, Managers & Employees, with a particular focus on mobile enabled applications.
  • Improved access to knowledge for managers to make informed business decisions.
  • Productivity and efficiency gains in HR & Payroll operations due to straight through processing.
  • Savings in license costs for other tools.

Growing Nutrien’s People from the Ground Up with SAP Successfactors

System landscape: SuccessFactors Recruitment Marketing, Recruitment Management, Employee Central, Onboarding v2.0, Career Development & Planning, Performance & Goals Management, Learning Management, Succession Planning, Preceda Payroll, and SailPoint identity management.

Nutrien is a $21B USD (revenue) multinational Agribusiness headquartered in Canada. With over 23,000 employees and operations and investments in 14 countries they are the world’s largest provider of crop inputs, services and solutions.

The Australian entity, Nutrien Ag Solutions, was formed in 2019 through the merger of Landmark and Ruralco. As part of the Australian integration, they created a global HRIS template which underpins Nutrien’s employee experience, enables their HR strategy and aligns with their purpose of ‘growing our world from the ground up’.

The “myHR” programme brought together HR and IT teams from Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto, Colorado and Australia. Against the backdrop of the global pandemic and with the help of their partners from Rizing, they delivered this programme completely remotely and created something which they think is pretty special.

Stuart and Aman share insights into the solution and delivery as well as the rewards they’re already starting to reap. One example is the utilization of the latest version of SuccessFactors’ Onboarding solution, ONB2.0. It is built on the core platform and integrates natively with Employee Central data, permissions and business rules. Among the key improvements is the integrated data model, much-improved visibility of tasks assigned to you and others and a consistent experience from new hire to employee.

Presented by Amandeep Kaur-Shaik, Manager HRIT Systems Integration, and Stuart Cooke, PMO Manager, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Q&A led by Claire Badger of Rizing.

Please Complete and Submit Form ID AE643…and Best of Luck!

Defence Finance Group is re-imagining the way it does business with its internal customers by applying a user centered design approach, leveraging the capabilities of Fiori to improve the user experience and adopting as much out-of-the-box S4 HANA functionality as possible. We hope to eliminate hundreds of complicated and unnecessary structures, processes, systems and tools, and replace them with a new ERP solution that will provide a single, trusted source of accurate, near real-time information.

A reform initiative that demonstrates this, is the replacement of the wide-ranging standalone finance forms that our customers love to hate. Our journey so far has involved transforming purchasing and employee reimbursement forms into online Fiori apps that ensure data is captured once, validated in real-time, workflowed for review and approval, and a UI that makes it easy for users to understand what is required of them with minimal to no training.

End to End Identity Management in a Cloud-first Landscape

With ever more enterprise data and functions moving from on-premises data centres to the cloud, the corporate firewall is no longer an effective demarcation of company-internal assets from the rest of the world. Identity has rapidly become the next security perimeter – the passport which systems inspect to grant or deny access to information assets. But such an approach demands robust processes for managing identities throughout their lifecycle.

Join this talk to hear how Orica evolved from largely manual processes without much visibility, to fully-automated identity management, with provisioning and de-provisioning of job-based authorisations in both SAP and non-SAP systems, how this changed the way we look at security, and what challenges remain.

Business Transformation is HERE. Is Your Team READY?

Business transformation is NOT about adopting new technology just for the sake of having “On-going IT Projects”. Transformation should be tangible, actionable, and immediately applicable with an on-going end-user development. Digital transformation is a journey. It requires cultural and behavioral changes as they can be complex, disruptive, and time-consuming.

Each company is unique, and so is the scope and effort required to achieve a successful transformation. Your digital transformation roadmap must be prescriptive and address specific pain points for your departments and your most significant assets, “your end-users.” For a successful transformation, business processes need to be reassessed, remapped, and simplified in advance, but it also takes the right digital-savvy leaders in place.

However, public sector organisations are making the shift towards a data driven strategy. The shock of the pandemic has forced governments to rapidly accelerate their plans for agile, technology focused strategies. SAP S/4HANA offers new ways of working that can really improve an end user’s experience but depending on the implementation approach and the applicability of the thousands of already available Fiori apps, users may be left with a solution that could be more clunky than prior to the upgrade. What this Masterclass will cover are the key implementation aspects of S/4HANA to set-up this new way of working, plus highlight how a role-based SAP S/4HANA Transaction dashboard might be a good quick win. The presentation will be broken up into 2 sections, each followed by an open discussion and questions.
1. The critical implementation aspects of SAP S/4HANA before you can even start the real SAP S/4HANA UX journey.
2. How the SAP S/4HANA transactional dashboard (A Fiori Elements Overview Page) might be designed and built with the build process included.

Presented by Matt Harding, Independent, and Al Templeton, Senior SAP Fiori UX Designer/Developer, Nutrien Ag Solutions.

Evolving from HCM to HXM with People Analytics

Is the promise of engaging content and easy to access dashboards for people managers finally becoming the reality that we were all sold years ago?

Whilst the team at SuccessFactors might have caught the SAP bug of renaming products, stories in People Analytics does deliver the ability to present some compelling interactive dashboards to your users necessary for Onboarding 2.0 (no other way to report data) and the platform for all future reporting builds in SAP SuccessFactors. We’ll discuss the challenges of getting this solution into place to future proof your organizational reporting functionality – and check out what you can do!

GRC Management by Design

GRC Management by Design

Governance, risk management & compliance (GRC) is something an organization does and not something an organization buys. GRC, done properly, is what is achieved throughout the business and its operations. By definition, GRC is “a capability to reliably achieve objectives [governance] address uncertainty [risk management] and act with integrity [compliance].”

This requires that GRC needs to be understood in the context of enterprise strategy, objectives, architecture and processes. Designing mature GRC processes that align with the organization requires an understanding of what the organization is about, how it operates, how it should be monitored and controlled. This is done through defining the right GRC process, information and technology architecture.

GRC by Design requires an enterprise/organization architecture approach to the organization and how it operates. This session aims to provide a strategy for attendees on effective enterprise GRC in a dynamic business, regulatory, and risk environment. Attendees will learn enterprise GRC strategies and techniques that can be applied across the organization.

Attendees will take back to their organization approaches to address:

  • GRC Strategy. Understand GRC in the context of organization performance, strategy, objectives, obligations, risks, as well as its culture and values.
  • GRC Processes. Flowing from strategy are the enterprise GRC processes integrated into the organization and how it operates. Enterprise GRC, done correctly, is part of the rhythm and cadence of the organization.
  • GRC Information Architecture. Defining an information architecture that enables enterprise GRC strategy and processes by providing 360° situational awareness of GRC in context of the organization strategy and operations.
  • GRC Technology Architecture. The necessary technology components needed to bring together diverse and distributed GRC departments and functions into an integrated information and technology architecture aligned with the strategy and operations of the organization.

Indiana Jones and the Search for the (Employee Data) Truth Source

Live Interactive Meet Up

In the HCM space, SAP promotes SuccessFactors to be the “next step” from traditional SAP HCM OnPrem users to move to. As a result, most organisations – including us at Aurizon (and at my previous employer) – use both SAP On-prem as the IT solution for some HR-PY processes (e.g. Payroll, Org Structure for workflow approvals, etc) while some processes use SuccessFactors (e.g. Employee Data, Performance Reviews, LMS, etc). This is a hybrid model and two sources of HR data exist.

It is therefore “challenging” to extract data from both sources and then “combine” into a single file to load into other 3rd party systems requiring employee data. When it comes to interfacing employee data to 3rd party systems such as Timesheet solutions and even to other SAP cloud products such as SAP Ariba, SAP Concur complexity and hence risk is added to our system. In addition, when producing reports containing employee data, we are having to use VLOOK_UP to match up the data from 2 sources to create a single report.

Join SAP customer, Jude Falco and share and compare your experiences. Some of the discussions that would be great to crowd source solutions around, include:

  • How do organisations determine which system is their “source of truth” for employee data
  • What tools and solutions are available out there in the market to overcome this challenging problem?
  • How has this impacted your organisation’s ability to provide employee data to other 3rd party systems in your company?
  • What reporting solutions can be used that can combine data from multiple HRIS sources to create insightful, expedient people analytics to assist with effective, decision-making?

Getting Clear on Your Transformation Modelling – Inside and Outside of SAP

Getting Clear on Your Transformation Modelling – Inside and Outside of SAP

The SAP model for transformation is to upgrade all systems to SAP S/4 HANA and other cloud applications – even if a private cloud “lift and shift” might have a limited TCO. But how does this translate back into your IT philosophy? In this session we will cover the modelling aspect of transformation and show you how to understand how to fit SAP – and any other applications – into a workable context for transformation. The goal? To help you start designing your implementation model that brings customer experience design, needs analysis of your system and future IT needs to the fore. One burning question: how can you tie bigger SAP transformations into the quick wins that the executive board – not to mention users – are looking for? Is it possible to anticipate future AI and planning needs by factoring in an underlying data model? This session is for SAP customers who know they need to move their transformations forward, may have been told how to move, but need to take critical step back to see if whats being proposed aligns with their internal strategy.

1. Industry disruption and benchmarking – how does your upcoming transformation fit into your industry goals? What is your scope of your existing relationship with SAP (SAP as core ERP provider, SAP as cloud enabler, SAP as transformation advisor)

2. Models of transformation – there are multiple models for transformation, even for customers moving SAP S/4HANA to some type of cloud. Examples: analytics/AI driven transformation, customer or supply chain driven, ring-fenced ERP, ERP as real-time backbone

3. IT philosophy – mapping transformation goals to IT philosophy. IT as cost center, workflow automation provider, and/or competitive differentiatior via “smart products” and apps. Are LOB leaders building their own groups?

4. Quick wins, APIs, and data models – how can you build “quick wins” into the move to your future state – not always easy with big SAP projects? How do your digital transformation plans map into an overrall data model or platform? What is the role of trusted third party advisors, independents, and project auditors in all of the above?

It is only with the alignment of these four areas that a durable business case can be built – one that goes beyond TCO.

From Customization to Standardization in SAP – how to Avoid Falling Again into Traps from the Past

The world of large ERP implementations where we were starting from a blank page and doing several months of blueprinting sessions are far gone. Organizations do not have that luxury and those types of budgets anymore. Now we need to focus on Rapid deployment, lean and standard processes.

For that, SAP has come up with their new “SAP Activate Methodology” where we have a series of tools that help us achieve these goals. Our focus will be centered in the “Fit-Gap Analysis” sessions where the business users explore the SAP best practices and standard business processes such as order-to-cash, procure-to-pay or record-to-report that are mapped for SAP S/4HANA. Once the Gaps have been identified, a fit-gap strategy will decide if those gaps will be addressed through a series of system’s enhancements, customized applications or adopting a new business process.

This session will help organizations avoid getting in the old habits of over customizing their SAP systems that put them at risk on maintenance and future upgrades.

Why Investigative Case Management is Good for Public Sector Entities

For some time, Public Sectors have been struggling to use CRM solutions and building them out to handle the complex service requirements for Government Agencies and Government Owned Corporations. SAP Investigative Case Management (ICM) was initially created with Law Enforcement in mind, first showcasing on Blackberry at Sapphire 2008.

Originally built on a SAP CRM system, it is now available on native SAP S/4HANA opening up possibilities for a wider use case without SAP CRM. Further enhanced with new Fiori, providing a simple approach to managing Cases.

SO what is a Case, anything where you want to control a process. It could be a HR incident, a Police incident, a Defence incident, an importation request, anything that requires a process and/or good documentation records.

Come learn about ICM and the many opportunities it can provide for your Government Department. We will be talking real world examples of how SAP customers are utilising ICM.

Cultivating an SAP Security Culture, Let’s Get Growing

Christchurch City Council’s SAP S/4HANA transformation project was a catalyst for building a positive security culture. Transforming from ECC to SAP S/4HANA, with limited security resource and a tight deadline, meant establishing a security culture with sound roots, quickly!

Engaging with Basis and ABAP colleagues was key. Transformation meant lots of data cleansing, including digging up data on historical tcode/report usage, and sharing it to contribute to everyone’s planning.

Sandi dives into the detail of her approach and how she tackled an SAP S/4HANA Security project, when everyone just wanted things to work, and not have to think about security.

  • Partnering with functional analysts to grow their understanding
  • Sharing your tools, test and trace – it’s a team effort
  • Making it real for end users/business influencers to communicating what’s in it for them

Drive Data Literacy Through AGL’s Data Literacy Academy

Many big data and advanced analytics investments fail to deliver significant and lasting benefits. Technology is rarely the issue. O’Reilly’s results of their study on AI adoption in the enterprise in 2020 called out culture, skills gap and data quality as the as the biggest obstacles to businesses leveraging value from their data.

Most large companies are incredibly well-placed to generate significant competitive advantage from their data. They’re sitting on a wealth of data; they have talented analysts and scientists, shelfware galore and plenty of pain points to work on. So why aren’t they generating success?

Part of AGL’s shift to a data-driven culture was the establishment of the Analytics Academy. Its purpose is fourfold:

1. Drive data literacy across the company irrespective of job roles

2. Reskill employees into data and analytics technical roles by giving them dependable and high-quality learning resources

3. Upskill employees in existing data science and engineering roles to keep up with the pace of change in their domain

4. Uplift data and AI-driven leadership across the organisation.

This is driving the following major outcomes:

1. Making better data driven decisions as an organisation

2. Increasing the hiring pool to fill hard-to-find data science, engineering and analyst roles internally

3. Lower hiring costs, hiring time and employee churn

4. Embedding data-driven leadership able to leverage data and analytics.

Michaela Shea, Senior Manager for Data and Analytics Change and Transformation, will talk about the development of the Academy and how it is positioning AGL’s data and analytics transformation.

The global market has seen change accelerate dramatically over the past twelve months. As each enterprise shifts to meet demand, so has the need to review and evolve employee engagement strategies in real time.

To remain competitive, organisations must attract and develop key talent, motivate and reward appropriate performance, and create an alignment with business imperatives and strategies.
In this session, DXC’s HXM Practice Manager Toni Kennington, will share the strategies that organisations are exploring to drive engagement and ensure effective organisational communication and behaviours. Whether for the benefit of a successful solution rollout or adoption of a new business process, we will unpack the unique and winning elements of what differentiates employee engagement.
