ARE YOU A LUCKY OR RESILIENT LEADER – HOW 1% WILL OCCUR 100% OF THE TIME

Masterclass

Through this captivating case study of four US Marine F/A-18Ds and eight lives as they approach certain disaster, you will experience why resilient leaders constantly ask…” What are we not seeing?” Fortunately, your own system holds the answer, but not where you expect to find it. We will see how dramatic differences among leader behaviours produce more resilient, more competitive, higher performing, future industry leaders or not.

David has served as a Fighter Pilot and Commanding Officer in the US Marines, and a Business Unit Manager and Entrepreneur in private sector industries. From the pressure of combat to unforgiving environments in industry, David experienced a parallel demand for unparalleled human reliability. He has designed and implemented enterprise programs to deliver human reliability in operations where mistakes can be life threatening, economically disastrous, and environmentally catastrophic on a global scale.

How to Change Your Life in 90 Seconds

Often the incredible, audacious goals we set for ourselves – those amazing opportunities we flirt with – begin as an exciting spark of inspiration that provides an immediate rush of adrenalin. But then real life snaps us back to reality and we put that big idea on permanent hold because…well, because it is just too big, too hard, and too massive to possibly execute.

But maybe we have been doing it all wrong? Maybe we are biting off way too much and then disappointing ourselves when we don’t meet our big hairy audacious goal within 3 weeks? Maybe, instead of going all audacious, we need to start with one small step and then add another small step and then another and another until all of a sudden we realise that we have actually climbed that mountain we thought was impossible to climb. Maybe, instead of focussing on the big picture, we should be focussing on the 90 second ‘moments’ of time that simply require us to exert enough power to open a new door?

Every monumental change in your life starts with one small step – called a ‘MOMENT’. Focusing on and embracing every MOMENT creates MOMENTum, and once you have MOMENTum, you can literally change your life.

Greenfield SAP S4/HANA Project Delivers a Combination of Lean & Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) Warehousing

Our organization is a medical device distributor of mostly surgical implants and instruments. Turnaround time to hospitals is time critical and this means that having the stock easily accessible and being able to rely on our stock on hand numbers is pivotal. Our aged legacy systems weren’t fully integrated to our vertical storage solution, nor did they support cycle counting, stock transfer orders or 2 stage put away. Instead, we were reliant on annual stock take processes that froze systems for 4 days and then reconciliation processes which took weeks to several months to reconcile.

Our EWM implementation enabled a hub and spoke model from our national distribution center, with Lean warehousing in 6 satellite warehouses across ANZ. In addition to EWM, we integrated our Kardex solution giving us better visibility of inventories in bin locations and developed customized Fiori style apps for efficiency with scanner guns. The result of this work was:

  • With increased inventory accuracy, MRP is utilised for the automation of replenishment requests and in automatic creation of stock transfer orders now more visible and accurate
  • Regular cycle counting & standard 2 stage put away functionalities now being leveraged
  • Increased visibility within S4 of stock on hand down to bin level within vertical storage solution, Kardex
  • Bulk of warehouse tasks are managed via the scanner guns, alleviating the need to manage tasks on a desktop separate from the physical workflow in the warehouse

Implementation of a User-Centric Field Application for Pole Inspections

TasNetworks owns and operates the electricity network in Tasmania. Work Manager was implemented in 2018 for our entire field work force, covering everything from inspections, maintenance and construction across the distribution, transmission, and telecommunication areas of the business. However, our distribution pole inspection process is a unique work type which has been hampered by Work Manager. Something had to be done!

This presentation will cover the drivers, architecture and demonstrate the newly implemented, user centric application built by Bourne Digital. The architecture consists of a Xamarin application connected via SAP Cloud Platform that replaces the use of Work Manager for pole inspections. As a result, we have developed a significant uplift in user trust of the systems used and a reduction in business risk through better and increased data collection from the field.

Illuminating the Lives of Millions Living in Extreme Energy Poverty

Simon’s story started like many. An Englishman in his early 20’s wanting to see the world, landing in Australia, meeting an Australian girl, and building a life and family on the sun kissed shores of Queensland. Unlike most stories, Simon’s life took a turn with seemingly no end in sight before a flicker of light changed his course. As you will hear, it was through sheer grit and determination that saw him navigate out of the darkness. Resulting in the creation of a global social impact business that is illuminating lives of millions living in extreme energy poverty.

Simon is a purpose driven humanitarian, social impact entrepreneur, inspirational keynote speaker and authority on creating innovative solar energy solutions for the humanitarian and off-grid sectors. A father himself, Simon is determined to ensure every child has access to a quality and safe education that will enable them to determine their own futures and maybe even change the world.

The Power of the Made-Up Mind

And what I learnt cycling through every country in Africa

On the 30th June 2013, after selling everything he owned, 20kg overweight, alone and unaided, and with no ‘adventure’ experience, Ron Rutland left Cape Town Stadium on his bicycle to fulfil a lifelong dream and embark on a world first…a single continuous journey through every country on mainland Africa.

42,000km, 841 days, and 75 countries later, Ron arrived in Brighton, UK on the 17th Sept 2015.

The decision to embark on that first adventure changed the course of Ron’s life forever, and he has since then become a full time ‘working adventurer’, and when not cycling around the world or trekking across countries, he’s inevitably working on plans do just that!

In his uniquely self-deprecating and humorous manner, Ron has inspired and motivated audiences around the world, with his tales from the road, and what it took for the most ordinary and unlikely person to achieve something quite extraordinary.

Drawing on his experiences from some of the most inhospitable environments on the planet, Ron shares the tangible ‘real life’ lessons he learnt chasing, and ultimately reaching, the most audacious goal imaginable.

Some key lessons shared

1. Proper planning, and being adaptable
2. Cut the clutter – the power of focus
3. Assuming the best in people (you’ll probably be right)
4. Just make the decision and start

Creating Stories with SAC to Improve Reliability and Maintenance Strategies

At OJI Fibre, maintenance reporting for planned vs. actual from SAP to capture maintenance KPIs usually means many downloads to excel, links to spreadsheets, formulas and customisations and often results in inconsistent reporting across different sectors of the business.  Having separate business units and plants with different ways of doing things has always meant accurate reporting has been problematic and unreliable.

Our objective was to deliver timely reporting on the accuracy of weekly work scheduling and execution. In addition, we wanted to support immediate investigation and isolation of details relevant to areas of concern; provide performance trends over time and nurture a high degree of automation and transparency (low reliance on people input).

We developed business defined KPIs and schedule compliance KPI measures along with supporting analytical capability to assist with understanding of variances and negative trends, enabling action to be taken to address them.  Using SAC and then building custom tables and custom extractors we have created a comprehensive and complex structure of SAC stories that are managed in an agile manner. Starting with extracting data from SAP into SAP BW (Business Warehouse) and then taking it into SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud), stories are created to provide the accurate records of maintenance scheduling and execution (e.g., actual hours worked for a snapshot week compared to the planned scheduled hours for that week, break-in work and PM/CM ratio). The reports also measure other KPI’s which are added using a phased and iterative approach.

Walk This Way – Operator Led Inspection Rounds and Mobility

After auditing our maintenance performance, we found that we needed a wholistic approach to asset management (Operator + Maintainer + Technician). Success for us meant no gaps and no overlaps, improved operator ownership of the plant and freed up trades to do more corrective maintenance work.

We decided to create standard templates for common types of assets and put them into a mobility solution Together with Innovaptive, we co-innovated their new Inspection Rounds module to meet our business needs. Our requirements included both online and offline capability; auto-scheduling of inspection rounds; collection of data and uploading to SAP; linking operator findings to SAP Notification process; exception reporting of defects – and it needed to be easy and safe to use in a manufacturing environment. We engaged our Engineers to work with the operators to create rounds that:

• Aligned with sensible plant walkdowns and the checks associated with assets contained within the route are loaded into the route checklist
• The Routes are tested to ensure that they are achievable, and that the workload of each Route is reasonably balanced
• The confirmed routes and associated checklists are loaded into Software which will display the route and checks on a mobile device (Tablet).

The outcome is that our operators now successfully use the tablets to input inspection data as they move through the route and can raise notifications directly on the tablet if an issue is identified which requires maintenance follow-up.

Landing Drive 8:1 – A Process Driven Transition Approach to Keeping Supermarkets Stocked

In January 2021 Foodstuffs North Island started the final 16-week transition to consolidate eight Upper North Island warehouses & distribution centres (DC) into one purpose built 77,500 sq distribution centre in South Auckland. The business needed to complete this transition while continuing to maintain its service level to the store network without significant investment in system developments that were only required short term.

To achieve this our DC procurement process required Vendor supply to two DC’s and residual stock movement to our new DC for each transition week, while ensuring the correct configuration of our purchasing solutions for 150 stores each weekend.

Hear how the team achieved:

  • 444 suppliers and 30 000 Pallets of stock transitioned to the new DC
  • Two DC’s and related transport operations operated simultaneously through the transition and 360 new team members on-boarded
  • Simultaneous store replenishment from Multiple DC’s utilising DC listing and prioritisation, source of supply logic and site-specific article status’s to ensure the right product, right DC through transition

Optimising Asset Management at AusNet Services with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

Ausnet Services Artificial Intelligence Practice was formed in 2020 to identify how advanced analytics can drive business value and transform business process by implementing AI solutions into production. The team, led by Claire Davies work across the AusNet electricity distribution and transmission business and have been driving two projects that are showing promising results for optimising AusNet’s Asset Management capabilities. Claire will share insights from these two case studies:

  • Adopting Machine Learning (ML) risk models, trained using SAP data and SAP work orders, and integrating with criticality algorithms to manage assets across the network
  • Identifying pole-top defects and conductor condition from imagery using Machine Learning models

Live Maintenance KPI Reporting in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Like most organisations, we have a set of reports for our maintenance processes to measure how maintenance is performing.  In our old world, data for Maintenance KPI’s were extracted monthly from SAP and manipulated in Excel to create these reports. The Excel reports used a lot of complex formulas; were slow to run and generate calculations.  Sometimes there were errors in these reports. They were inconsistent and manipulated. The information was a snapshot in time, out of date and always looking at the past when presented. The process of generating the reports took around four days per month.

We have now developed reports in SAC based on the manually generated reports from excel with instant, live reports. These are quick to run, deliver current information that is both past and future looking. We now provide summarised results for managers to detailed information for the planners and the work team. And best of all, I get 4 days back and can focus on higher value actions.

Join me as I share our story of how we did it, what is required, the challenges you might face and why we would never go back.

Coca Cola European Partners (CCEP) and SAP Co-Innovate to Develop World’s First Transportation Management Functionality

CCEP’s operate a transport network utilising in excess of 500 trucks each day to supply products to customers. A large portion of this is deliveries to “Route” customers, such as small stores; snack bars; bakeries etc. Our network scale and complexity, together with increasing customer and regulatory demands are driving a need for improved management systems to give greater visibility of our Chain of Responsibility (COR) compliance, and to unlock productivity and cost reduction opportunities across our Logistics network.

The proposed CCEP TMS will deliver a centralised ‘Control Tower’ capability to allow an integrated approach to logistics management covering transport efficiency, execution, and monitoring. By Co-Innovating with SAP, we were able to develop the functionality needed, which did not exist in the marketplace. This included, being able to plan the building of pallets, through to safely loading onto the truck and finding the most efficient route to the customer.

  • TM is now live in Western Australia since Feb 21 and more recently NSW
  • Results from WA showing reduced time and distance travelled to deliver products
  • Achieving 100% Safety Compliance

Data Driven Risk Based Decision Making Ability – Attainable or Not?

Capital and operational planning at Queensland Rail has historically been heavily reliant on past experiences and localised knowledge from long term, indoctrinated employees. But what if you could design a framework which was scalable and tailorable to suit small to large infrastructure domains that aligned to customers and corporate risk management requirements?

Queensland Rail have been on the journey to do just that, and it was no mean feat!

Tim and Tina will discuss the steps – two proofs of concepts into different segments to validate the framework, developing meaningful asset management KPI’s which were real-time, getting granular and driving change to train and drive the workforce in the framework.

How an SAP Blockchain-enabled Solution is Driving Visibility along the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain in Asia

Daniel Laverick from Zuellig Pharma is interviewed by Lorraine Longato from SAP

Zuellig Pharma, Asia’s leading healthcare services provider set out to develop the first Blockchain hosted drug traceability application in Asia named eZTracker in 2018. The work leveraged SAP enabled blockchain to ensure the efficacy of their products along the supply chain. Starting by capturing data about a drug on to the blockchain from the drug manufacturer once a product reaches Zuellig Pharma’s warehouse, and then tracking sensor data right through to the drug being shipped to consumers, hospitals, and drug stores.

Fast forward to 2021 and a handful of innovation awards under its belt, the business is really seeing the value of this work and its evolution. Achieving technology driven assurance of transportation temperature conditions of their goods, helping with custom clearance, offering end to end network visibility and facilitating payments and transactions via an open platform that the business can collaborate on.

Daniel will also speak to the opportunities of using this data to achieve smarter supply chain decision making – including auto replenishment that leverages AI to predict reorder and how external influences might disrupt their supply chain, such as environmental conditions or civil disruptions.

Driving Real Change with Fiori: Measuring Maintenance Performance by Having Everyone on the Same Page

Masterclass presented by Graham Johnston & Christian Tietzel, AGL Energy

SAP S/4 HANA is a big step for most businesses but how many are truly using the power of HANA? Post implementation at AGL, aligning to a standard maintenance process and driving change was very challenging. Each site was measuring maintenance performance differently as well as using many different tools.

Over the past 18 Months AGL has been on a journey with the site people delivering a pipeline of improvements in S/4 HANA. Among these improvements are suite of SAP Fiori UI5 real-time embedded analytic apps that measure maintenance performance as well as other common metrics in EAM. This session will show how we achieved a common set of apps to aligned maintenance performance across all AGL sites as well as technical steps on how we utilised the EAM data in S/4 HANA to build these Fiori apps.

  • Business driven apps that lead to high utilisation
  • Real – time super fast apps reporting with drill-down functionality
  • Multipurpose apps that can report in many ways

Shell’s Warehouse Digitisation Project

Shell operates hydrocarbon and renewable energy assets in over 70 countries globally. Maximising the performance of these capital-intensive assets requires a complex, global supply chain to ensure a vast range of equipment and spare parts are available to maintenance technicians in the right place, at the right time and in the right condition. In recent years, Shell’s Connected Worker Program has focused on deploying new technology to improve the end-to-end supply chain for maintenance, repairs and operations (MRO). A key part of this program was to improve the operational performance across a global network of 200 MRO warehouses, which, despite operating on SAP, were largely dependent on paper-based processes for material receipt, storage, and dispatch to assets.

There was a big opportunity to increase inventory accuracy with real-time SAP updates, improve warehouse productivity by enabling the frontline and reduce working capital tied up in inventory. After a competitive evaluation, Shell selected Innovapptive’s mInventory mobile solution integrated with SAP as the way to digitise existing manual warehouse processes. This presentation will provide practical, in-depth insights on their journey, including the following:

  • Scope and scale of Shell’s MRO operations
  • Key evaluation criteria used to select the right solution
  • How to organise a global rollout program
  • Importance to Shell of deploying a market standard solution that could be adopted globally
  • Lessons learned from the project

Artificial Intelligence is upending how people work and for many tasks is replacing them entirely, and in unexpected ways for the reliability and maintenance professional.  Today AI offers incremental benefits in how data is interpreted and analysed and how work is planned and scheduled. Where are these trends headed?

From an SAP perspective, AI is foundational to our vision for Intelligent Asset Management. This presentation will show the evolution of AI and its application in maintenance:

  • Data and Algorithms
  • Machine Learning: Anomaly Detection and Prediction
  • Deep Learning and Neural Networks
  • What elements of AI are available in SAP today
  • How AI can move from advisory AI, to directing AI, to controlling AI
  • Putting Intelligence into Intelligent Asset Management.

This presentation will be at a level that is accessible to anyone with a maintenance or reliability background and who is a user of a smart phone. Terms and concepts in the Industry 4.0 lexicon will be covered. New and emerging tasks and roles will be introduced as they pertain to reliability and maintenance professionals. Implications and benefits for operational efficiency and labour productivity will be touched on.

AI is here and it is useful, it is getting smarter and will change what tasks you do and how you do them.

The Why of Asset Performance Management

Masterclass

The “Why” of anything we tackle is critically important to understand. Understanding drives passion and motivation two emotions which cannot be garnered without first identifying the “Why”. A quote which articulates this quite well is:

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”
—Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Imagine if our people’s passion was the eradication of defects in equipment, people, process and data then asset performance management would truly be what we all wish it was. This master class will layout a roadmap to reach asset performance management. We will talk about definitions, data sets, process flows and tools. Participants will come away with a broader more interconnected view of the elements of asset performance management and what a plan could be to drive change in their organization.

Field Services Strategies to Help You Improve Asset Availability and Deliver Better Customer Experiences

Across industries, Field Service Management is increasingly becoming a competitive differentiator. As organisations look for opportunities to improve, they are using higher service levels, and the ability to respond to disruptions across their maintenance and service cycles, as ways to expand market share and reduce operational cost. Key to success is having an accurate and complete view of asset and service demands, a clear understanding of the skillsets and availability of the potential workforce (whether internal, contractor, or contingent), and the tools to manage and optimise the end to end process – from initial identification of demand, through to field operations, and back for final billing and cost settlement. In this session we will review how SAP is closing the loop between strategy, planning and execution, and how Field Service Management excellence is being achieved.

The Power of Ambition – There is a Better Way to Supercharge the Outcome of your Strategy

Every day, in every company and organization around the world, leaders are making mission-critical decisions on how they will execute their business strategy.

Leaders at non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, Fortune 100 companies and Main Street small businesses all know that every day is an opportunity to make progress or to lose momentum.

It is the choices they make on what to do and what not to do, and how work will get done that will move them and their organizations forward or move them backwards.

And as a result, the pressure is on to make the right decision every single time.

The Ambition Method™ is anchored in behavioral science and decades of observation on organizational performance, and aims to answer this singular question that every leader has asked:

HOW DO I GET EVERYONE FOCUSED AND ENERGIZED TO EMBRACE THE STRATEGY AND DELIVERTHE RESULTS?

The Ambition Method™ lays out the approach that leaders and their teams can follow to create the results that they desire, to have a positive impact on their organizations, and to build the legacy that all leaders can be proud of.

Take your Data by the Horns – Deliver Asset Intensive S/4 HANA Implementations with Confidence

Masterclass

If there is one thing that has become critically visible for any organization in the last 18 months, it is that accurate and trustworthy information is key to sustenance and survival. Data is the new oil – just like crude oil, data needs to be refined to harness its true value. Like designing and building a refinery, data needs to be processed end to end strategically to achieve maximum efficiencies. Looking at individual data points or tools only uncovers part of the puzzle, without a holistic and strategic approach it’s difficult to realise data into a strategic asset. Coupled with limited availability to critical business resources and working from remote environments, it’s easy to see how disconnected data hampers initiatives and puts implementations at risk.

Come join us and hear directly from the team that successfully delivered the recent S/4HANA Business Transformation Program at Endeavour Energy – From zero to executing Production Data Migration 4 days ahead of schedule for over 116M records, with high accuracy & quality, and only pocket change in financial variance for Go-Live, we’ll share how you can take data by the horns and ride the Business Transformation with confidence. You will get to hear perspectives from Business Team, Data experts & the EAM solutions experts and we’ll cover the key notoriously complex tasks you will face – Asset Restructuring, Linear Asset Data alignment (support those dreamy GEF/GIS Solutions), harmonising Vendors, Customers & Employees into the magical S/4 Business Partner and share how to approach, plan, manage and support the Business Stakeholders on their Data Journey through the Business Transformation.

Creating a Platform for Automation Post Fonterra’s Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) Deployment

Three years on from Fonterra’s deployment of EWM the team have set out to further optimise time being spent on managing the system and process. Systemisation and automation of tasks was required and a key driver to optimise and reduce travel times in DC operations and improve operator on the floor efficiencies.

This session will share how focusing on systemisation and standardization of procedures and processes, plus freeing people from process to support better performance were instrumental in Fonterra’s optimisation efforts. Ultimately achieving a reduction in system process work generation, improved case and operator picking performance outputs and created a platform for future automation activity.

More with Less. Managing by Exception in the Maintenance World.

Denbury is an independent oil and natural gas company with operations focused in two key operating areas: the Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain regions. 18 months ago, we made the decision to optimize the ROI in our SAP MM and EAM investment by learning how to use the standard functionality we already owned. This is the story of how Denbury utilized standard MRP exception messages to drive our daily processes. The results were staggering (and surprising).

  • Cross Department Alignment
  • Company Aligned Prioritization of Work
  • Inventory Guidelines & Reduction of Dead Stock

You’ll learn how to find and use Standard MRP Exception Messages, and get a high-level look at Supply and Demand in standard SAP. Justin will also share the key KPI’s Denbury use to measure success.

Key Learnings of IBP Optimizer via a Staggered Implementation Approach

Shiseido is one of the world largest beauty companies with $11 Billion in sales and 39 000 employees. IBP Optimizer is a complex system with calculations far more advanced than anything they could manually achieve. In order to align Optimizer’s results with their supply chain, Shiseido needed the ability to test scenarios and control system outputs.

The approach was to introduce “Light” Optimizer first, so as to understand and adjust the system while still taking advantage of its functionalities and capabilities. The decision to solely implement IBP for contract manufacturing gave Shiseido a manageable scope of parameters to adjust and the opportunity to focus on master data governance within the system. Through different adjustments, trials, and testing, they are now more prepared and capable to utilize Optimizer fully and properly for internal manufacturing.

  • Alignment globally of the external demand plan vs the sales and financial budget
  • An optimized PNL via a global stock policy resulting in improved service level, lower E&O, and inventory management
  • A better prioritization approach to protect sales and concentrated efforts via XYZ segmentation and ABC classification
  • Obtaining one version of the truth via standardized KPIs and master data Integrity to truly understand performance and identify areas of improvements

Great Asset Management – Managing your Assets from Cradle to Grave

Masterclass

Great asset management is based on an encompassing lifecycle view of our assets. This begins with a decision to invest or replace assets. To make that choice we assess asset designs and use portfolio and project planning to evaluate alternatives. Once the design is approved, we move to build and commissioning, in-service management over the service life, and finally end of life and replacement. Throughout this end to end process, data and information for the assets is enriched which produces an evolving representation or digital twin of the asset. While SAP supports all these steps it does not inherently provide an integrated end-to-end set of processes to achieve this. This presentation talks to the full asset lifecycle and solutions that deliver a holistic asset management outcome by building on and extending the functionality that SAP provides.

This session will include examples from geospatially dispersed asset industries including Utilities and Transportation. The processes discussed though are just as applicable to Defence, Manufacturing, Mining and other asset intensive industries.

EAM Jumpstart: Practical Tips and Tricks for Quick Wins in SAP Plant Maintenance

Practical tips and tricks that drive quick wins from SAP Plant Maintenance. That is a frequent request from conference attendees and this session delivers suggestions for standard functionality that users can directly apply on their systems either on their own, or with limited assistance.

    • Practical design and implementation of Catalogs and Codes.
    • Developing a practical and usable task list library.
    • Setting up asset structures (Functional Locations, Equipment, Catalogs, BOMs) to deliver effective asset management outcomes.
    • Options for set-up of maintenance plans from time to usage to measurement to predictive.
    • Practical usage of the scheduling parameters in Maintenance Plans?
    • Getting measurements into SAP – a practical guide to the possible approaches
    • Setting up Work Centres and schedules.
    • Allocating Work to Contractors
    • Use of SAP Classification in Plant Maintenance

Managing Contractors – Maintenance Orders to Payment

We have a lot of contractors who are on our site. Almost half the maintenance workforce at Australia’s largest coal fired power station are what we would call embedded contractors. And we have always battled with providing safe access to these contractors to our system. We needed to provide them an easy way to manage maintenance work assigned to them, book their time, and facilitate payment. We battled with the audit problem too – they essentially had too much access and could see other contractor’s commercials, providing them an unfair advantage at the next quoting event. There had to be a better way then the old paper and phone quote.

Using SAP S4/HANA (mostly on Web GUI) and a combination of enhancements and work center trickery we have provided them a way to see only their commercials at contract level and service line; We have provided a way for them to log their own time which is routed for approval to an Origin Energy person and which in turn creates a service entry sheet against a framework order (a periodic PO) and results in them getting paid.

Our system needs refining and small improvement but we almost entirely there, having solved an age old contractor management issue and creating great efficiency. Of course, this is for vendors who have access to and operate within the boundaries of our system.

Rob Whitehead, ERP Asset Management Project Energy Markets Lead and Clare Miles, EAM and Supply Chain Document Writer at Origin Energy share how they have solved this issue which until now has prevented them, and many other organisations, giving contractors access and an unfettered view under the hood.

Transforming the MRO Value Chain Through Digital Integration of Maintenance and Warehousing

Masterclass

Maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) value chains tend to be quite complex, spanning the globe far and wide, and, as a result, creating ample opportunity for things to go wrong. What’s more, companies often experience challenges on the home-front with maintenance and supply chain organisations operating in silos, caused by missing or weak ERP support for MRO processes like kitting, returns and rentals. Evidently, despite significant investment in ERP systems and the factors mentioned, many organisations continue to operate on inefficient, paper-based processes that lead to low visibility across the value chain and misalignment between their system and actual operations.

Join this interactive masterclass as we take a comprehensive look at opportunities to improve maintenance planning, execution and warehouse operations through integration, including important process touch points across the value chain. Key topics are as follows:

  • A review of common challenges in the MRO value chain
  • Deeper look into the business implications of poor integration
  • An interactive discussion with maintenance and industry experts
  • A demo of best practice technology proven to improve the MRO value chain

MC – Andrew Daddo

Thrilled to announce that Andrew returns as this year’s co-MC.

Energetic, enigmatic and witty, Andrew’s managed to have a crack at just about every aspect of the entertainment industry, probably more out of necessity than by design. He’s appeared on TV – some good, some great and some entirely forgettable, presented radio programs, podcasts, appeared on stage and a long, long time ago, even made a few movies.

Maybe best of all, Andrew’s an accomplished author. He’s written 28 books of various sizes, weights and colours. Picture books, chapter books, short story collections, novels and a vague biography – he’s hard to pin down. He also talks up literacy in schools across Australia. What’s next? Time will tell, but given the history, it could be anything.

Risk Mitigation by Rapid-App Development

Covid-19 has brought new and unexpected complexity to managing critical assets and facilities. Personnel tasked with running the day to day operations of essential plants and facilities are facing greater risk than ever before. As it stands, mitigating this new risk is costly and timely for SAP customers without rapid-app development capability.

New Zealand’s Defence Force has an exemplary story to share with the SAP community around how it has leveraged its existing rapid app development platform, based on SAP-Certified partner technology currently used for inventory and armoury asset management, to develop its Covid-19 tracker app. As the Government Department charged with managing New Zealand’s MIQ Centres to keep all New Zealanders safe in what’s now seen as the leading national response to Covid-19 globally, the stakes in this technology couldn’t be higher. And yet, it cost them next to nothing to stand up.

Join this one-time session with the New Zealand Defence Force to learn how the Neptune Software powered mobile personnel tracking app is integrating with its SAP back-end and being used for managing all MIQ Covid-19 personnel.

Avoiding Pilot Purgatory: How to Translate a “Digital Transformation” into a Successful Real-world Implementation

Masterclass

It’s widely accepted that digitisation is a major contributor to multiple facets of busines performance. This is especially true of work order management in asset-intensive industries, with productivity 10-30 percent higher where digital asset management processes exist. But while the gap in performance between those that have more mature maintenance processes and those that have not continues to widen, research demonstrates that 7/10 digital asset management projects don’t progress past a Proof of Concept stage.

Director of Customer Success, Vikesh Dayaram has twenty years of international experience implementing major digital transformation projects in mining, energy and utilities. In this masterclass, Vikesh will share the common factors for a successful digital transformation, in addition to ways tips on managing roadblocks and avoiding failures – including pilot purgatory. In this thought-provoking workshop, attendees will gain practical tips and compelling industry research that will improve their chances of a successful digital asset management initiative. If you’re just starting out on your roadmap of improvement, or talking the next stage of a complex, technical project, this session will help you to drive continuous improvement.

A Voyage of Discovery: Modernization and Integration of Sustainment and Logistics in the Canadian Armed Forces

Operational sustainment underpins all Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) operations at home and abroad. The objective of the Modernization and Integration of Sustainment and Logistics (MISL) Project is to deliver a digitally transformed Defence Supply Chain (DSC) that enables materiel readiness through improved performance and cost optimization. Given readiness is our profit, the MISL value proposition will be achieved by increasing total asset visibility and reporting, decreasing cycle time and enabling data-driven decision making across sustainment functions.

This journey involves significant business transformation driven through the adoption of industry best practices coupled with adaptations of proven SAP functionalities in order to meet Defence and Government of Canada (GoC) business requirements. In addition to featuring the MISL roadmap to successful implementation, this presentation highlights the significant change management at the intersections of people, technology and business process outcomes.
