Empowering Operators with the Right Data

Ben is the Chief Information Officer of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, a Fortune 500 exploration and production company headquartered in Oklahoma City and with oil and gas operations in five states across the US.

This is a fascinating story about a front end that aggregates data from SAP and other sources (including Scada and GIS data) and brings an integrated view to operators at the wellhead allowing them to take an end-to-end and de-siloed view of the entire process they need to engage in to get the job done.

Prior to this role, Ben was the Chief Digital Officer of Centrepoint Energy. He is a highly regarded thought leader and speaker in the SAP Energy and Utility domain. He is also a board member of the American SAP Users Group.

Digitizing Asset Management for the Modern Rail

SBB, the largest rail provider in Switzerland, is committed to meeting its customer expectations as a modern transportation provider. Safety, efficiency and timely services are critical to the success of SBB and as such, required a technology that would provide proactive maintenance practices with access to data, allowing for optimized maintenance activities and to achieve an effect within the process chains.

The SAP Intelligent Asset Management Solution (IAM) including Predictive Maintenance & Services (PdMS) and Asset Strategy and Performance Management (ASPM) have been licensed to meet the future needs of the organization. In this presentation we will discuss critical elements identified as first drivers for implementation, early learnings and future plans for our innovation roadmap.

Upgrading to SAP S/4HANA has Enabled Ballance’s World Class Supply Chain Project

Ballance wants to ensure it will provide our customers with the right product at the right place at the right time. Ballance had identified that it had a low maturity model in its supply chain systems and processes and required development of new capabilities critical to ensuring it addressed the pain points that created disruption and frustration across the network.

An SAP S/4HANA upgrade provided advantages to ensure we could provide a digital platform that would enable mobile and digital tools to provide visibility across the business, ensure efficiencies to communicate and record interactions, and improve the ability to plan and make bookings with our carriers and customers so we could delivery on our world class supply chain objectives.

Why Do We Keep Getting Contract Management and SRM So Wrong and How Do We Fix It?

The collective procurement industry has spent hundreds of millions (if not billions) of dollars chasing the elusive concepts of Contract Management and SRM. Technology vendors promise solutions that get bogged down in the minutiae and complexity of modern business. Consultants are constantly espousing philosophical and ivory tower concepts that lack grounding in reality. The net result is a collective and repeated failure of our profession.

And yet, we live in the midst of the digital revolution where technology, analytics, and data are fundamentally transforming business, society, and our lives. In this context, it is time to stop making excuses and start solving these problems. This session will deconstruct how we got here and more importantly lay out the practical steps and approach necessary start to solve contract management and SRM.

Aligning People and Process for Ongoing Transformation

Transformation is never complete. Upgrades, implementations and integration means the business and IT are constantly evolving. At TasNetworks, a major initiative is underway to ensure interpretation of changes are consistent and Business Process owners align their workflows to ensure technology matches the process flow. By giving ownership to business units it holds teams to account, gives them what they need and ultimately brings them along for the change. In this presentation David will talk about the processes for alignment and adoption across the entire ERP system.

Improve Your Asset Investment Plan with SAP Analytics Cloud

Across the Utilities industry, approximately 40% of planned asset investment plan is actioned each year. This is largely due to unforeseen challenges in the areas of planning, maintenance and workforce planning across the Asset Portfolio. At Powerlink, Judith O’Callaghan and Wayne Holtham have developed a concept where the insights sought by using SAP Analytics Cloud can bridge the gap between planned and actioned asset investment.

By integrating data from finance, condition monitoring, workforce planning and other variables, it provides the ability to have the visibility of information and granularity of data which bridges the gap. The presentation will focus on optimising the costs of Asset Investments and building a sustainable solution by leveraging the capabilities of SAC across various aspects of the Asset Investment Planning.

Supply Chain as the Business Case Driver for SAP S/4HANA Implementation

Like many organisations, investments in technology and adoption of best practice is always front of mind, however in small to medium enterprise this is often driven by necessity, rather than strategy. Often, Supply Chain is the recipient of new technology, not necessarily driving the strategy and change.

At Burra Foods, strategic areas of opportunity throughout the end to end Supply Chain functions were used as the basis for implementing SAP S/4HANA. In this presentation Michelle will share insights of their transformation program with SAP S/4HANA and APO as well as the continuous optimisation and transformation of the business.

Fiori? How can these Apps be Useful in EAM?

Many businesses implemented SAP PM/EAM many years ago and if the standard transactions didn’t suit a ‘Z’ transaction was created. Creating these transactions are usually very complex and are usually carried across during an S/4 HANA upgrade.

With the introduction of SAP Fiori all this becomes a lot simpler and a lot more flexible. Core Data Services (CDS) are the key to Fiori being able to combine different areas of EAM such as Technical Objects, Work orders, Notifications, Purchasing, materials, etc into one App. At AGL we have used a combination of standard CDS views and custom CDS views to create Fiori apps that cover many areas of EAM into single list report. CDS views are also reusable and can be used to structure Fiori analytics that deliver a graphical overview. By enabling many different filter options in these Fiori apps, a user can set up different views to help them manage their work through custom Fiori tiles.

In this presentation, Richard explains the key success factors for implementation and the impact it has had on their business to support the industry and meet business requirements and future business growth.

How to Stabilize the Forecast Demand Signal in an Integrated Supply Chain

One of the greatest challenges in complex supply chains is the ongoing volatility caused by changes in the sales forecast.  Production schedules and raw material availability constantly require costly realignment to meet demand fluctuation.  Supply chains exhaust their resources in an attempt to create a better or more accurate demand plan but find themselves back where they started.  Software and solution providers claim they have the “silver bullet” to your problem and are very convincing that traditional MRP is your problem.

This session will unpack all the techniques within standard SAP and MRP functionality that will stabilize the demand signal at point of sale in any supply chain.  While building the necessary buffers at the point of sale you will still maintain the end to end supply chain visibility and integrated audit trail that supports governance and change management.

Unpacking the Major Contributors to Supply Chain Successes in a Fully Integrated Supply Chain

Functionally integrated supply chains are literally only as strong as the weakest functional link in the supply chain. In order to improve the overall maturity of the end-to-end supply chain the approach is to target the obvious functional weaknesses and work on the aspects that enhance integration maturity. The functions that typically present the best opportunity for improvement are:

• Sales forecast and demand plan, and the challenge to stabilize demand volatility
• Production capacity, and the challenge to align with sales activities
• MRP and its purpose to balance supply with demand
• Master data and the challenge to ensure accuracy and quality
• Inventory optimization as a direct result of supply process performance

This workshop will help to unpack the opportunities necessary to unlock and sustained value in the supply chain. Leave this workshop armed with standard SAP transactions, tools, and reports to effect improvements in your organization’s day to day supply chain activities.
Tangible value has never been this obvious.

Using SAP Enable Now to Build Employee Capability and Harmonise the Way We Work

AGL went live with a standardised SAP S/4HANA / Prometheus Scheduler CMMS in two releases; November 1st 2018 and May 1st 2019. SAP Enable Now was used by the project team to run initial training, and to deliver online help materials to support users as they learnt how to use the new CMMS.

Once AGL’s workforce had achieved basic proficiency in the use of the software, the focus turned to ensuring that the site leadership teams have the materials that they need to support them, as they work to build employee capability, and harmonise the way that their teams work to AGLs updated Work Management Standards, Procedures and Processes. As part of this transformation, Jeff is using SAP Enable Now to develop and deploy Work Management training and other support materials to AGL’s sites, in multiple formats, from a single source, while working from home.

Providing Leaders with Asset Health Information for Quick Decision Making

Frontline leaders require accurate and up to date information at their fingertips to make the right maintenance and capital decisions. Fortescue has developed the Asset Health Manager reporting platform using SAP to provide a singular representation of all asset condition data sources. This information is now readily available to assist with shutdown scope development, weekly work prioritization and daily threat management.

Using SAP Analytics Cloud for Stronger Forecasting and Cost Reduction

Ameropa Australia is impacted by fluctuating global and local demand for their products and seasonal changes. An accurate and agile Sales Forecasting solution to service customers more intelligently, and manage inventory costs is critical. Ameropa Australia needed a solution that was intentional and delivered a development platform for the medium- long term. As such a Sales Forecasting solution using SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning was implemented.

The solution delivers accurate awareness for various stakeholders by presenting various views but linked to one source of the truth. With accountability and traceability at the core of the solution, Ameropa Australia’s commercial and trading teams can respond to fluctuating demand in an agile manner, manage supply efficiently and unlock cost efficiencies.

Delivering Improved Proactive Supply Chain with SAP Digital Process Automation

SAP Digital Process Automation provides the ability to tailor SAP and non-SAP processes to the specific needs of the company. Addressing specific supply chain issues such as stock outages and late supplier replenishment, these capabilities apply to any company that depends on business processes for achieving company performance. We will be discussing:

-Leveraging new technologies for establishing, automating, improving, and re-engineering proactive supply chain processes that interact with users, and

-Enabling digital “continuous improvement” methods for long-term business process management

Turning Risk into Work at SA Power Networks

SA Power Networks hosts the oldest assets in Australia’s utility sector. Maintaining these assets requires understanding of likelihood of failure, impact of failure and associated risks. Workflows are determined through risk, cost and value assessments, allowing the right technical resources to maintain and replace the assets at the appropriate time.

The result has enabled us to turn our risk profiling into prioritized work and by batching maintenance activities together has given us the maximum output for the expenditure on the in-service asset. Steve will share their technical development of the project, the impact it’s had and the importance of data collection and ongoing development to get the best out of our in-service assets.

Reporting Procurement at Aurizon

Two schools of thought exist around technology and processes. One is centred around using one system provider across the entire operational practice, the other is best in breed. Aurizon decided that SAP would be their ERP and system of record for procurement and leverage the HANA database for live connection but use third party tools around reporting and Source to Award. This presentation looks at the reasoning behind these decisions and the capabilities and limitations of using alternative tools.

Spares Supply Chain Visibility: How do I see Upstream and Downstream of Me?

We all know that Supply Chain visibility across your entire maintenance value chain is critical. Maintenance teams need to see what buyers are up to, buyers what maintenance, warehouse and suppliers are doing, and the warehouse need visibility of what everyone is planning or doing. In essence all your spares role players need a view of what is happening with demand and supply – right now, tomorrow and all the days after that. That said, visibility cannot be limited to what everyone is doing, but must also include visibility of what inventory is where.

SAP has a standard set of tools and reports that provide all this visibility. We’ll spend the first part of this session with a quick introduction to the tools sets, and then we’ll talk about what this visibility means and what you should be doing about what you are seeing.

Driving Demand Transparency

Adam interviews Monique Mallon from T&G Global.

Historically, T&G Global was a supply driven business, with little unconstrained demand thinking. The business did not have the visibility of true demand with manual processes at a product level detail. The lack of visibility meant an accurate marketing focus was difficult.

As part of a wide-ranging transformation programme, T&G implemented SAP Demand Planning in just 14 weeks. The tool brings historical data from multiple ERP’s and data sources into a single platform, which then generates a suggested demand forecast. IBP is a breakthrough in efficiency and value for T&G, resulting in improved performance and transparent data driven decision making processes. Management now has total transparency of demand and can focus on more strategic activities.

Does New Technology Solve Old Problems?

Technology evolves around solving complex IT issues, ensuring businesses can run better. The rail industry, like many others, have faced issues around linear asset management, master data and work management. So, do new technologies solve old world problems or is more required?

We look at Queensland Rail and Powerco’s approach to business issues and the opportunities new technologies from SAP provide to solve them.

Spatial – the Final Frontier

The worlds of Enterprise Applications and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) sometimes seem light years apart, however a GIS-centric approach for dealing with assets is now best practice in many industries. Integrating enterprise asset information and spatial data supports correlation of events, grouping of work, and advanced detection of trends and patterns. These capabilities allow asset-intensive organisations to act more rapidly, prevent disasters, and deliver superior customer service. In this session we will speak with customers who are leveraging the SAP Geographical Enablement Framework (GEF) to integrate asset and spatial data, the challenges they faced, and the business outcomes that they are achieving.
