S/4HANA Eyewitness Accounts: Interactive Customer Panel

You’ve heard the marketing spiel about SAP S/4HANA, but how does it stack up in real life? Join this interactive panel for a unique insight into SAP’s new digital platform. Hear from ANZ’s early adopters as we ask them:

  • How did you gain executive buy-in and sign off to migrate to S/4?
  • What were the expected business benefits? Have they been realised?
  • Greenfield implementation vs. upgrade – what did you opt for and why? Which approach do you recommend?
  • What unexpected challenges did you come across during or post-implementation?
  • How do you prepare your system for the S/4 upgrade? Consider skills, customisations, data
  • What one top tip would you give other companies implementing S/4? What would you have done differently with the benefit of hindsight?

From Teams to Tribes: Creating a One Team Culture

People naturally form tribes. It is just what we do. When we bring together teams to work in a department, or on a program or product this team of teams will become a tribe. However, not all tribes are equally effective. Just like with regular teams it is the culture of the tribe that dictates its effectiveness. When we look to improve the performance of these teams of teams, we often get so focused on improving technical skills and individual performance that we can easily forget to help the teams involved bond, foster a sense of belonging, shape their values and instil respect for one another. To maximise the effectiveness of any team of teams, we need to take the time to build a culture beyond the team’s individual identity to create a sense of tribal unity. Based on her debut book, Tribal Unity: Getting from Teams to Tribes by Creating a One Team Culture, Em Campbell-Pretty will share the proven patterns she has been successfully applying in the field over the past five years. Peppered with tales from the trenches this session will be full of practical ideas to help you lead a team of teams towards tribal unity.

How Lion is Digitising its Existing Enterprise with Minimal Effort & Cost Via Hana Cloud Platform

You do not have to spend a fortune nor upgrade to S4/HANA in order to get the benefit of mobilisation. With a minimal amount of effort and cost, Lion has leveraged their existing on-premise SAP and non-SAP enterprise and is starting their journey into the world mobilisation via the HANA Cloud Platform (HCP). Join this session to find out why Lion selected HCP and uncover what they have learnt along the way:

  1. Lion’s lean delivery model that delivers apps faster and cheaper
  2. Embracing user-centric design and build
  3. Learn to customise the mobile app to give your company’s personalisation
  4. How to make internal vs external facing applications and security around both of these

Values Driven Agile at Envato – Leading Practices from Outside the SAP Ecosystem

For over 10 years, Adrian Fittolani has been leading teams in agile development and project delivery. He is now GM of the Content Group at Envato, an online community with over 7.8 million members that last year was named one of the top five tech pioneers in ANZ. Join this session to expand your mind outside of the SAP ecosystem and discover how leading technical teams like those at Envato embrace agile. Envato has developed a values driven, non-directive, coached agility model, used by more than 20 teams. Designed to promote the ideals of autonomy, mastery and purpose, it has forced them to constantly rethink their ways over the last four years in the pursuit of true self-organisation. This talk will walk attendees through the model, highlighting Envato’s values, what they measure and the role of the coach in an environment where agility is far more important than “agile”.

How a Sports Team Mentality Helped Christchurch City Council Deliver an Upgrade in Record Time & Under Budget

After a recent restructure at Christchurch City Council, the IT Service team had gone from a highly energised, high engagement team to a record low and becoming the least engaged team in the IT department. The restructure had significantly changed the scope of work and workload. They lost senior team members and gained much less experienced staff. Attend this session to learn how Ross turned a record low team engagement score of 25% to a 75% high in less than a year. Using what he learnt at Mastering SAP 2016 he translated a sports team approach into running his IT team by strengthening the culture, challenging leaders and team norms. Culminating in the completion of a SAP system upgrade in record time and $150k under budget!

BYO Laptop Lab: No HANA Core? No Problem! Hands-On Guide to Developing Amazing HANA Sidecar Scenarios

Good news: Even if your main SAP system is not on HANA (yet), you can immediately benefit from the speed and feature-richness of HANA by building HANA sidecar scenarios. This hands-on session will show you how to use a number of little-known techniques to get the most out of any HANA database you can access and make its power and speed available to those SAP systems that are not running on HANA (yet). You can achieve very much with very little now, if you know how to play your cards right! SAP Mentor Thorsten Franz will lead you through connecting to a remote HANA database on-premise or in the cloud, and tap into its power to accelerate and enrich the business processes in our non-HANA SAP system. You will practice how to enrich transactional applications with fast analytics, accelerate long-running dialog steps and batch jobs by factors of thousands, and use HANA’s features such as fast fuzzy search and predictive analytics. You will gain first-hand experience with a number of development techniques to get amazing results out of HANA, while preparing for Suite on HANA and S/4 HANA. Please note: This is a hands-on session and each participant is required to bring their own laptop. There is no extra charge to attend this session, however places are strictly limited. Please indicate your intention to attend this session when registering.

Strategy to Delivery – A Journey from Fiori to Beyond with MMG’s Mobile Centre of Excellence

MMG developed a comprehensive mobile strategy covering all facets of mobile enablement including platform services, security, UX design and develops processes to deliver mobile apps and unlock more ‘time in field’ for MMG personnel. A new mobile Centre of Excellence was established to bring this strategy to life. This resulted in the delivery of a number of mobile applications, including SAP Fiori apps, custom SAPUI5 apps, and native mobile offline-capable applications, delivering a new face to common or key SAP functions.  And all this without it costing $millions. Go on a journey of discovery as we explore what worked, toolsets adopted, challenges faced, and outcomes delivered to the business. This presentation covers:

  • Key considerations for a comprehensive enterprise mobility strategy
  • Toolsets, platform services and methodologies adopted
  • Insights into when HTML5 was adopted versus when Native mobile development was appropriate
  • Lessons learned with Fiori
  • Successes and challenges
  • Visual demonstrations
