Internet of Things Across and Beyond the Digital Supply Chain

The number of connected devices is expected to grow to 50-75 billion by 2020. The long-term impact of the Internet of Things (IoT) is huge. However, it is important for companies to adopt the first wave of IoT technologies now to capitalise on the opportunity and stay ahead of competition. This session will discuss: How SAP solutions for big data, in-memory computing, predictive analytics, complex event processing and manufacturing integration and intelligence (MII) are making the IoT real today for customers; real-world examples of early-adopter SAP customers, how they have gained significant ROI by improving business processes and operational efficiencies and customer-driven innovation strategies for achieving high levels of innovation by creating new products, services, and business models.

Running a Live Business

Over the past decade we have seen significant changes in the elements that drive business. We are branching out of the networks through improved collaboration and connectivity between businesses. From collaborating with customers to drive demand-driven processes, to sharing information globally, your business network became “greater than the sum of its parts”. The Internet of Things not only enables connectivity with people and businesses, but also with assets, parts and products in a Digital Economy - where everything is becoming digitized, everything is being shared via the cloud, everything is now personalized and everything is directly available.

This session will provide strategies to address these business priorities and a roadmap to a live and thriving business.

Is Your Data Really Trustworthy?

Attend this workshop to learn how to influence the management decisions across your organisation by taking steps that ensure data is timely, accurate, and complete. This workshop provides techniques to ensure that will improve data flow within and across the end-to-end business functions in your organisation. You will also examine best practices for establishing business rules and standards for managing master and transactional data.

Topics will include: understanding the pros and cons of centralized versus decentralised master data management; the top 4 problems that will corrupt MRP (materials requirements planning), guidelines for aligning data definitions across procurement, maintenance, inventory, production, and sales; how master data and process performance management can achieve ideal inventory levels; how to locate and use reports that are readily available in your SAP system to identify areas where data needs to be cleaned up; why do you need reliable master data in preparation for “real time” management dashboarding as a future initiative, and understanding how lead time performance impacts the overall cost and service level performance.

This workshop will be relevant to both the Supply Chain & Procurement and EAM communities.

Digital Supply Chain Supports Simpler End2End Business Processing

Everyone wants to have a simple End2End Business Process in their company.  The challenge is to understand how the various processes and systems work together to achieve your goals.  In this workshop, you will first get a hands on user experience on SAP S/4HANA (no training required) and then you will get to see and discuss how the process from Supply Chain Planning to MRP and Procurement and to Execution is executed in a business.

Solutions covered will be: S/4HANA, Integrated Business Planning and Ariba.

How Do You Enable True Integrated End-to-End Business Planning in a Digital Economy?

Today, companies are facing increased supply chain risk due to economic uncertainty, escalating customer expectations, demand and supply variability.  To remain competitive, they must improve their ability to plan, analyse, and collaborate to help ensure long-term growth and profitability. A major focus for companies is to eliminate excess inventory and improve service.  In this session we will review SAP’s successes in helping companies to deploy inventory across the supply chain, meeting service level objectives at the lowest cost. Learn how the SAP Integrated Business Planning platform is evolving, and how this planning platform enables truly new business processes, in one planning environment with collaborative capabilities extending beyond the enterprise. Monitor the end-to-end supply chain and use predictive analytics to take action and address problems, even before they arise.

S/4HANA – Is It for Us?

SAP S/4HANA is SAP’s current release of the ERP Platform.  Since its release two years ago many companies in Africa and globally have begun the process of migrating their current ECC Platforms to S/4HANA.  This panel discussion will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to ask a panel of experts and customers questions about the solution coverage, migration options, deployment strategies and training and change management needs.

Network Optimisation in APO/IBP – Making the Most of Your Least

Network optimisation utilising a bi-modal planning process has the potential to unlock capacity, find efficiencies and drop value straight to the bottom line.  In this presentation we will demonstrate exactly how to setup your supply chain planning applications to realise these values.

Learn about network optimisation engine implementations at multiple clients over the years with a three step process: Simulate – Evaluate – Execute. This approach allows for both the development and implementation of these solutions and we will share these best practices including tips and tricks on running a successful project

Back to the Future: How Disruptive Technology Lets You Run a Supply Chain without Limits

An entire generation of supply chain professionals has grown up being told what to do.  Batch jobs, overnight runs and weekly solves - these limitations defined the modern planning process.  But what happens when these restrictions disappear?  How are you supposed to plan without IT telling you what you can and can’t do?  Today’s supply chain planning teams need to think about how they do their jobs in new and innovative ways.  IT organisations need to re-think what role their jobs play in this new world.

Learn how to manage the change coming to your organisation, and position your team to make the most of this technological disruptor.

Optimising Warehousing for Retail Pharmacy

Dis-Chem implemented SAP WM in 2009 to mainly service their closed network of stores. In 2013 a strategic decision was made to implement SAP EWM to deal with the growing demand created by the aggressive roll-out of the ever growing retail offering. Post the successful implementation of EWM, Dis-Chem have been actively challenging themselves by optimising our installation with additional functionality to drive efficiency across the supply chain. The introduction of functionality such as voice picking, integration to the Material Flow System, optimising picking and packaging materials, to name a few, have allowed them to cope with volumes beyond our imagination. In the search to constantly be better they’ve adapted Thomas Edison’s view that “We shall have no better conditions in the future if we are satisfied with all those which we have at present.”

The Importance of Change Management When Implementing an Integrated System Like SAP

In 2015 Kansai Plascon went live with SAP but very quickly realised that functional silos had a negative impact on their master data and business processes. Process data in the SAP system was a mess, customer service levels were declining, inventory levels were rising, people and functions continued to work outside the system on spreadsheets and legacy systems and management was frustrated with the lack of good information to make business decisions. In this session Plascon will share how they achieved functional maturity through a unique change management drive.

The presentation will cover the high level picking process using voice driven by SAP WM and how the technology and SAP WM solution work in tandem to deliver integrated voice picking

Supply Chain Management – That Sticky Goo Holding Operations and Asset Management Together

What a fantastic tool that we all have in SAP, now if we could only use it as it was designed and intended! And therein lies why we are all here. Getting the demand signal from the business through to the vendor and back to the business as per expectations if far easier said than done, but this you know, so what is holding you back? Is it your people, your process, or your tools? Let’s discuss over the next couple of days and get things moving forward.

Spare Parts Demand Management?! Isn’t That an Oxymoron?

Demand Management and Materials Management are words not often spoken in the world of spare parts (or MRO) and what a mistake this is!  Business are usually heavily overstocked with spare parts ‘just in case’ but still are constantly under the spotlight when the part(s) needed cannot be found or are not stocked. This session looks at this space in SAP beginning with the demand signal from PM, stocking strategies, MRP, reservations, delivery, and returns. Huge cash opportunities can be easily found!

Supply Chain Master Data Management, Second Only to Safety…PERIOD!

There is not one piece of SAP that is not in some way linked to master data.  This data is absolutely critical to understand intimately, maintain endlessly, and control carefully.  In this session we will openly discuss the master data that we all deal with on a daily basis in an effort to shape our understanding of how best to gain control and drive the master data to enable cost effective processes that can be highly automated.

Collaborating to Create Value and Maximize Profits

Procurement excellence means operating in an environment of strategic influence, to work in a function which has the full support of corporate leadership. Procurement can no longer work in isolation from the rest of the organisation and the people it serves. Learn how Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages have addressed procurement excellence in order for procurement to make a significant impact on the business, resulting in improved time to market, customer satisfaction, improved productivity, risk management, return on investment and improved sourcing and talent management.

Nedbank’s Journey with Ariba

In this session you will be given a first-hand account into how the face of procurement at Nedbank has changed through the adoption of Ariba. Learn about the Ariba business case, implementation hurdles, Cloud/On-Premise integration considerations, as well as warts and all feedback on the challenges, wins and key learnings experienced along the way.

Decode the Difference Between SAP WM and EWM

The warehousing products that are provided by SAP are not new, but they are also not always well understood by all. The aim of this deep-dive session is to explain and detail the functionality available in the latest SAP EWM release and speak to the differences between ERP WM and EWM in general, also touching on elements of the WM and EWM Roadmaps, as well as how these are developing or not.

Delivering Around 3500 Loads a Day with Standard (Almost!) SAP Technologies!

How do you convince a business that was always too complex to use SAP for Sales, Dispatch and Logistics that SAP Standard is the simplest and most suitable solution? Learn how Afrisam took multiple SAP functions to previously Non-SAP users through standard SAP tools. Key takeaways include questions answered regarding whether the SAPGUI and SAP transactions can be simple to use; whether SAP ERP will work as a warehouse for “Big” Data and Analytics; how SAP can be integrated with Plant and other external systems without complexity or 3rd party interfaces; and whether a different approach to implementation works.

Meerkat Motivation for the Marketplace

Corporate companies can learn from the meerkat’s awe-inspiring capability to outsmart clever rivals and to build solid relationships. Never more apt in these times where competition has dramatically increased and the corporate battlefield has become more intensified, success in the workplace is a non-negotiable undertaking. In this wildly entertaining presentation, Estienne de Beer unlocks inspirational applications with practical business awareness. It incorporates a myriad of risk factors like attacking birds of prey and nocturnal burrowing creatures never seen before by many people.

Using Data Analytics to Solve Supply Chain Problems in Distributed Maintenance Environments

With the implementation of SAP Plant Maintenance and SAP Material Management, the City of Cape Town has been able to optimise maintenance demand and inventory management by analysing the captured SAP data. Discover how SAP PM and SAP MM processes influence each other in maintenance environments and how SAP reporting and analytics can be used to optimise inventory management, work planning and to improve the relationships between maintenance teams and supply chain staff

SAP Supply Chain Coaching Programme: A Scaw Metals Case Study

Scaw Metals identified a need for procurement and warehousing operational staff to get back-to-basics with SAP, and held the imperative to equip buyers and warehousing staff with standard SAP tools to improve customer satisfaction. They embarked on an SAP Supply Chain Coaching Programme, underpinned by the mantra: “Today’s work today”. Follow the supply chain team’s journey from frustration to invigoration, incorporating exceptional functionality and understanding of SAP tools already owned. Successes include increased staff co-operation and empowerment, reduction of housekeeping issues and realistic master data reflection.

Monitor the end-to-end supply chain and use predictive analytics to take action and address problems, even before they arise.

The Asset Management to Supply Chain Interface – A View from the Asset Management Side

As asset managers, we need our supply chain colleagues – in fact, we depend on them. But we don’t always a do a very good job of interacting with them, their systems and processes. Consequently they don’t always do a very good job of meeting our needs, and therein lies the foundation of a blame game as old as civilisation itself. SAP provides functionality to bridge this gap, and with a well aligned setup of the system, data and processes, efficient business process flow can be delivered to address the Asset Management to Supply Chain integration areas we will look at in this keynote.

Your Problem is Not the Constant Changes to the Sales Forecast

This session examines common and costly inefficiencies in supply chain management. Learn best business practices and guidelines to root out these inefficiencies using standard tools and reports within your current SAP ERP and Business Suite. This interactive session offers in-depth lessons on: best practices guaranteed to result in a more effective S&OP process; techniques others are using to improve customer service while optimising inventory levels; supply chain phases required to ensure a fully integrated supply chain; better usilisation of MRP and master data settings to ensure effective forecasts, and integration routines that enhance process performance and reduce costs controlling unplanned over and under consumption of the sales forecast.

Targeting an Inventory Reduction with the SAP Functionality We Owned Already

After implementation SAP, MacSteel discovered that there were a number of challenges that needed to be addressed. Data was no longer trusted; users preferred old systems and processes; some BU’s resisted the use of MRP because of supplier rolling dates; executives were not getting the data they needed and everyone was still working off spreadsheets. These challenges were addressed head-on and unnecessary inventory was reduced by more than 20%, while keeping operating costs down and service levels up. This session will unveil standard SAP tools, techniques, and analysis MacSteel already owned and applied to achieve their objectives.

Supply Performance Management and Spend Analytics

In order to be successful in a competitive and highly interconnected business environment, companies go beyond their own performance and depend on the performance of other actors in the supply chain, such as suppliers. Learn more about how end-to-end supplier performance management and spend analytics application for tactical & operational procurement management becomes a significant asset for any organisation.

How S/4HANA Can Impact Your Supply Chain

You’ve heard a lot about S/4HANA but what does S/4HANA look like in reality? With reference to real-life customer case studies, this session will give you an overview of exactly what S/4HANA is and how it will impact your business operations. Find out more about why S/4HANA business case is so compelling, the impact of S/4HANA on supply chain & procurement processes, implementation and migration challenges, benefits and more.

Ensure Successful Integration with External Work Providers and the Role Ariba Can Play

Having more than 60% of its AU$800M capital work program delivered by external delivery partners who may deliver up to 8,000-10,000 services per month, requires effective integration of procurement and work management functions with your major service delivery partners.  This session will highlight how AusNet Services have embedded their major services providers into its EAM solution and utilised Ariba as part of its work provisioning high work volumes to its major service providers.

Many Planets – One Universe

Faced with mounting pressures from customers, regulators and shareholders for further cost efficiencies, AusNet Services successfully completed a 24-month project to replace 124 legacy applications and implement SAP for their Portfolio, Projects, Maintenance, Scheduling, Mobility, HR, Finance, Logistics & Procurement and BI operations of their business. We will look at the AusNet Universe – the solution outline and architecture – and how we aligned all the departmental Planets as critical integrations. Through setting this up successfully, we’ve realised AU$10M of benefits p.a. to date and tracking towards AU$40M year on year benefits in 2018/19 FY.

A Process-Centric Approach to Improving Distribution – Focused by Overall Work Rate, and Enabled by EWM

We all talk about doing more with less, but how? In this session I will discuss how Pick n Pay have, within the logistics division, improved productivity year on year, while pushing more volume through the same space. The key focus is by placing process at the center, to understand what we do. Then using overall work rate to understand what we want. Ultimately enabling this through EWM

Getting the Most Out of Your Existing SAP Investment and Laying a Firm Foundation for Supply Chain Digital Transformation

As much as we would love technology to do more, we will never get away from the need for people to do the right thing, at the right time.  You already own the tools in SAP to ensure that all supply chain role players do the right things, following the rules and applying the discipline required to satisfy service levels.  Getting the right behaviours entrenched now, will not only deliver immediate improvements, but will also set a foundation for embracing the change the digital transformation brings.

Digital transformation is upon us and we need to re-imagine people strategies, which is not as grueling as it sounds if you use the technology you already own to drive change, integration and value to all supply chain stakeholders.

Attend this practical, hands-on workshop to learn how to use the SAP you’ve already bought to address your supply chain challenges of today, whilst jumpstarting people transformation strategies needed for tomorrow.

Introducing New Supply Chain Technologies? First You Need to Master What You Already Own

Digital transformation is changing the way supply chains need to respond to the demands of their customers; innovations are steaming ahead at an astonishing rate and SAP is keeping pace.  That said, it is likely that this innovation may only confound your supply chain efforts if you haven’t learned to embrace and exploit the SAP technology you already own.  This deep-dive will explore SAP’s standard supply chain toolsets that Planners, Inventory Controllers and Buyers, should be using every day to keep demand and supply balanced, and in the long run, to make certain that you manage the potential disruption that is supply chain’s digital transformation
