Employee Central: From Implementation Strategy to Hands-On Configuration

When, why and how, should you implement SuccessFactors Employee Central? This session gives you the confidence and tools to cut through marketing speak, build your bespoke implementation strategy, and actually deliver it. We start with putting Employee Central into the broader context of SuccessFactors and SAP HCM solutions and build a roadmap for implementation. You’ll then get a good understanding of features and UX with an end to end demo, which also sheds some light onto value adding non-core features like T&A, service centre or apprentice management. Next stop: configuration. You’ll learn which options are available to you to configure and enhance EC and get a good feeling about complexity and effort from live configuration demos including workflow and MDF (Meta Data Framework = extension centre). We’ll round the workshop off by looking at EC’s built in reporting capabilities and then look back to the whole session to understand the change challenges customers transitioning from SAP HCM will be facing. An Ambitious HR System Transformation Journey to SuccessFactors Cloud Solutions in the Mining Industry

As part of the wider HR strategy Gold Fields embarked on an ambitious journey to transform our HR systems from fragmented systems into one consolidated HR system infrastructure across our 5 regions. The financial business case was compelling but the road map was challenging to achieve in under 2 years. The journey started in 2015 with Phase 1 to implement the full Talent Management suite of SuccessFactors modules (8 in total) and then moved into Phase 2 to implemented Employee Central in the latter part of 2016. Four countries and 2 languages were included during the implementation whilst standardising HR processes across the Gold Fields group. The project was managed centrally with stream leads across different countries and time zones based on skills and expertise in Gold Fields. The project objectives have been met but many lessons learnt: ·         how to manage cloud based solutions; ·         integration with 4 separate on premises SAP solutions; ·         inter-modular integration; ·         functional vs technical specifications in implementation; ·         HR resourcing requirements and changing competency requirements; ·         the importance of partnership between HR and IT; ·         the agility required by business in running a cloud solution; ·         and how successful change management can bring about a successful and lasting change SuccessFactors was a transformation journey for Gold Fields on how people are managed, and how employees and managers interact with HR data to make better people management decisions.

Project Horizon was initiated to enable capabilities and to keep abreast with the fast pace and high demands of the organisation and the environment. This implementation was approached through a “keep it simple” mind set and utilised a hybrid fast track approach which incorporated the On-Premise solution.  This session will discuss their journey, the lessons learnt and way forward.
