Pacific Coast Building Products Inc’s Family of Companies’ Journey to the Cloud using SAP SuccessFactors Rapid Deployment Solutions

For Pacific Coast Building Projects (PCBP), the decision to move to the cloud for Human Capital Management was inevitable. Choosing SuccessFactors Rapid Deployment Solution for Employee Central was instrumental in allowing PCBP to successfully implement a robust solution for the move. Amazingly, PCBP completed the Employee Central implementation and integration with SAP ERP in only 7 months, converting Core HR business processes as well as Organisation Management processes to the SuccessFactors solution.  PCBP achieved success by utilising the preconfigured Rapid Deployment Solution to accelerate the configuration periods and by using Business Rules to help fill the gaps in functionality not provided in the RDS. Following PCBP’s journey to the cloud, attendees will hear about the importance of extending testing cycles to include end user community to gauge understanding of end-to-end process, as well as how specific data is used in payroll, timekeeping, or benefits processes in ERP to aid in assuring data integrity.

Ensure Success in Your Technology Rollouts by Effectively Managing Change – Even in a Digital World

Changing the performance and goals system is a big shift for any organisation. So when CITIC Pacific Mining implemented SuccessFactors in 2016, getting high levels of buy-in from leadership right through to front-line staff was critical. In this session you’ll hear about what it takes to successfully manage change from an HR practitioner’s perspective and what hurdles to look out for. You’ll learn the importance of:

  • Effective communication and engagement to bring the human element into your program;
  • Being agile and flexible in your approach – remembering to listen and think before action;
  • Understanding your internal customers’ need in the rapidly changing digital world; and
  • Using system and technology as a tool for impact and to influence a positive outcome for your organisations’ success

Placing SAP at the Core of Your Digital Future

Ballance is a New Zealand farmer-owned co-operative and was the first organisation in New Zealand to go live with SAP S/4HANA technology. Ballance’s Chief Information Officer Dave Scullin will share why he believes companies can’t be smart going forward without a clear digital strategy and why S/4HANA is a critical component of their strategy. Almost a year post go-live Ballance is executing on a technology roadmap based on simplification and real-time. Join this session to get a real-life insight into what Ballance has achieved. Hear how key business processes have become 75 per cent quicker, freeing up their people to be more productive. At the same time, find out how Ballance has overcome the challenges that come along with implementing a brand new technology and gain an appreciation of what it takes to make the most out of S/4HANA in your own business.

Implementation and Aftermath – So What Happens Next?

The new SAP HR solution is in and the business has deemed the project a success. But what happens after the project team submits their final report and the consultants their final bill? How do you keep senior management engaged and supportive? How do you manage the enhancements and defects? Will your customers come on board? Come hear what NZDF HR learned from their experience after the handover, how the business unit actually makes it work for their end users and how to keep it relevant as the environment changes, and the senior management priorities shift to the “next big thing”. Learn from the trials and triumphs of the New Zealand Defence Force’s post-implementation experience. Significant implementation benefits include:

  • Payroll accuracy increased from approximately 95% to 99.8%,
  • Reductions in staff needed to manage HR and payroll functions
  • Improved reporting and audit controls
  • Improved HR & IT partnership that actually delivers results and better understanding of what can be achieved

How a Sports Team Mentality Helped Christchurch City Council Deliver an Upgrade in Record Time & Under Budget

After a recent restructure at Christchurch City Council, the IT Service team had gone from a highly energised, high engagement team to a record low and becoming the least engaged team in the IT department. The restructure had significantly changed the scope of work and workload. They lost senior team members but gained newer much less experience staff. Attend this session to learn how Ross turned a record low team engagement score of 25% to a 75% high in less than a year. Using what he learnt at Mastering SAP 2016 he translated a sports team approach into running his IT team by strengthening the culture, challenging leaders and team norms. Culminating in the completion of a SAP system upgrade in record time and $150k under budget! Experience how modelling the ways elite sports teams operate and handle pressure, while producing consistently top results has been well worth the investment. The four keys areas of the program:

  • Leadership
  • Value and culture
  • Review and prepare
  • Recovery

What if You Were Becoming Obsolete and Didn’t Even Know?

We are living in an age of unprecedented disruption. Once-lucrative revenue models are under siege. Market structures and distribution channels that have been stable for decades are crumbling before our eyes. The demise of brands such as Kodak, Borders and Blockbuster leaves us with little doubt – shift is happening and no organisation or business is immune. In this fast-paced & compelling keynote presentation, audiences discover:

  • Why most organisations and businesses don’t realise they are becoming obsolete 'til it's almost too late
  • The four major shifts that are causing brands and industries to become irrelevant
  • Proven and practical strategies for staying ahead of the curve and competition
Audience members will leave this presentation with a game plan for successfully navigating change and emerging stronger and more relevant than ever.

From Teams to Tribes: Creating a One Team Culture

People naturally form tribes. It is just what we do. When we bring together teams to work in a department, or on a program or product this team of teams will become a tribe. However, not all tribes are equally effective. Just like with regular teams it is the culture of the tribe that dictates its effectiveness. When we look to improve the performance of these teams of teams, we often get so focused on improving technical skills and individual performance that we can easily forget to help the teams involved bond, foster a sense of belonging, shape their values and instil respect for one another. To maximise the effectiveness of any team of teams, we need to take the time to build a culture beyond the team’s individual identity to create a sense of tribal unity. Based on her debut book, Tribal Unity: Getting from Teams to Tribes by Creating a One Team Culture, Em Campbell-Pretty will share the proven patterns she has been successfully applying in the field over the past five years. Peppered with tales from the trenches this session will be full of practical ideas to help you lead a team of teams towards tribal unity.
