Reliability Field Data Collection, Analysis and Management

Data is the difference between deciding and guessing.  In this one-day workshop, Drew D. Troyer, CRE will introduce you to the methods that have proven to be effective for managing the reliability of engineered equipment assets.  Borrowing heavily from the aviation, defense and nuclear power industries – all reliability critical in nature – this workshop will enable you to create a data collection, analysis and management system that will enable more precise decisions across the entire life cycle of your assets - defined by ISO 55000/PAS 55 as Create/Acquire, Utilize/Operate, Maintain and Renew/Dispose.  This workshop opens with the business case for managing reliability data and a comparison of leaders and laggards.  We’ll then explore best practices for collecting field reliability data, including standardized taxonomies for failure modes (what went wrong) and causes (why it went wrong).  We’ll then address mechanical, electrical and human failure mechanisms (how it went wrong) – which bridges the gap between failure modes and causes.  We’ll conclude with and introduction to reliability analytics and quantitative techniques.

What’s New in S/4 HANA Asset Management – Maintenance Management

This presentation will focus on the new and enhanced functionality for Maintenance Management as part of S/4 HANA Asset Management. This includes exciting improvements and new features to improve the user experience based on WebDynpro and Fiori. This includes a Fiori Maintenance Request (Notification), list reports for finding technical objects, maintenance notifications, maintenance orders/operations and new Object Pages. Other new functionality includes Embedded Analytics for damage analysis, location analysis and maintenance order analysis; mass update of material availability status for maintenance orders and resource scheduling capabilities.

Winning the Master Data Battle

Your EAM Master Data is the foundation of your work and asset management solution. Get it right and keep it right and you are half way there – get it wrong and you’ll never leave the starting blocks. We will look at the practices and tools to win the master data battle:

  • Master Data Is More Than Just Asset Data.
  • The Key Role of Data Standards and ISO 55000.
  • The Principles and Practices of Effective Master Data Management (MDM).
  • The Standard SAP Solutions Delivering Powerful MDM.
  • Your Business Responsibilities for Successful MDM.
This session is built around a deep-dive, but with opportunity for your experiences and questions.

SAP EAM Assisting the Gauteng Provincial Treasury Government with Their Assets

Movable assets owned by the Gauteng Provincial Government are valued at billions of rands. For a long time the province was struggling to fully account for its movable assets.  Assets would be in wrong locations, barcodes falling off or assets even being stolen or misplaced.  The SAP EAM solution assisted the province through the scanning functionality to fully account for the assets.  The solution saves time and it’s easy to use.

SAP’s Solution for Managing Asset Information

As organisations move toward the age of the digitalisation and Internet of Things (IoT), a solid master data foundation is imperative. The ubiquity of IoT connected assets and mobile-connected workers creates unprecedented demands for quality in the underlying master data. In this fascinating presentation we will cover: Asset Data Quality, SAP Master Data Governance for EAM and the SAP Asset Intelligence Network.

How Safripol Achieved Work Management Excellence

At Safripol we were not achieving the efficiency and effectiveness in our Work Management Process or in our Planning Offices that we had hoped for. Why? We realised that we had to fully script and foolproof our processes by embedding the process flows, business rules, data selections, task steps and process monitoring within SAP. Utilising existing SAP User Interface platforms and techniques we managed to implement a solution that does just that.

Mine of the Future: Geo-Assets, Master Planning and Works Management

The ‘Mine of the Future’ scope covers complex themes, issues and challenges: technical and non-technical. A major focus is the ability to plan, schedule and execute work in an integrated way. Mine Planning and Ore Reserve Management are key to the end-to-end processes, take month to execute, are outside of the SAP ERP processes and are difficult to integrate. By using spatial technologies, SAP HANA, and MineRP’s GeoInventory & GeoFinance patents and MineRP embarked on bringing together these disparate worlds to enable an integrated, ‘Mine of the Future’, with integrated master planning, scheduling and work management.

Transforming SAP EAM Data into Maintenance Business Intelligence

In this interactive session, you will learn how to develop your own Maintenance KPI Dashboard in SAP, and get answers to questions such as:

  • Which KPIs are relevant for your maintenance organisation
  • How to build a KPI & PI hierarchy
  • How SAP EAM can provide the necessary data
  • Which BI tools are available in SAP
  • What a BI infrastructure looks like
  • How you determine the targets for your KPIs
  • What the change success factors are for implementing a Maintenance KPI Dashboard

Well Integrated PM and MM Processes… How Can This NOT Be Core to Your Goals?!

Not a single business (or person) that maintains equipment can effectively, productively and profitably operate without providing and receiving information throughout the supply chain.  Why is it that so little attention is given to integrating business processes between SAP PM and MM? In this presentation, we will review how we can address this critical link that will help to get your teams working together with far greater returns!

Why Equipment Creation Should Be at the Centre of Your Universe and How You Get It to Be!

Equipment creation is the most essential part of any Asset Management business.  Having timely and complete equipment information on everything from a single residential gas meter to power station poses enormous challenges in a utility business. This session will highlight how AusNet Services remodeled its equipment creation processes to ensure a more complete equipment register was available to support our business operations.

Production Cost = Viability

Is maintenance really treated as part and parcel of your company’s strategic plan? Or is it separate entity that eats its way into your profits? Is your maintenance strategy fragmented and directionless? This presentation will look at these questions. We’ll look at the minimum that is needed to instill an effective maintenance strategy that enables cost optimisation, all effectively practiced for more than a decade at AfriSam.

Prometheus Group – Best Practices for Asset Management

This presentation is covering some of the key business drivers through best practice utilisation of PM maintenance plans & Prometheus’ ERP Advanced with +MAC. The first major driver is an organisations’ desired maintenance process and how that compares to best practices within their industry. Once this is understood and agreed upon, the major challenge is executing this with their resources teams through the desired system of record (SAP).

Asset Management in the Real World

How do we ensure maximum success and expected benefit from Asset Management efforts? RCL has put systems in place using SAP, on which we built a roadmap using available information to establish a standard upon which to move forward. We’ll look at the inherent challenges, as well as the measurable results we achieved through sticking to our roadmap. Learn how we engaged synergy between our teams, and of our roadmap itself, which has ensured that the “road” is not as challenging as when tackling it alone. We’ll also look at what we are monitoring on the dashboard which enables us to reach our end destination.

Meerkat Motivation for the Marketplace

Corporate companies can learn from the meerkat’s awe-inspiring capability to outsmart clever rivals and to build solid relationships. Never more apt in these times where competition has dramatically increased and the corporate battlefield has become more intensified, success in the workplace is a non-negotiable undertaking. In this wildly entertaining presentation, Estienne de Beer unlocks inspirational applications with practical business awareness. It incorporates a myriad of risk factors like attacking birds of prey and nocturnal burrowing creatures never seen before by many people.

Turn Work Management Theory into SAP Practice with a Simplified User Interface

SAP is a brilliant, integrated transactional processing and Enterprise Resource Planning system- but the User Interface is often criticised as unfriendly and cumbersome. In SAP PM we essentially work with 4 transaction elements i.e. Notifications, Work Orders/Operations, Confirmations and Measurement Documents. When we consider real life we have to admit that although the 4 transaction elements cover all the required functionality for the management of maintenance tasks, options for the Planner is limited. In this session we will illustrate through the clever use of the SAP UI how tools can be provided to the Planning Offices that will allow for the mass grouping and processing of SAP PM Transactions and fully support the Work Management Process

Asset Management Outsourced – a Mercedes Benz SA Story

Can a part of your asset management function be outsourced successfully to a service provider? When partnering with a service provider with the appropriate expertise and resources, it is possible. Pragma has successfully managed the asset base of numerous organisations. In this presentation, we focus on Pragma's Asset Care Centre at MBSA as a case study and the value it delivers on a daily basis.

Planning and Scheduling Process Checks That Matter

Work order management is the most important business process in an asset intensive organization. When you are in control of the maintenance work flow, you create a greater opportunity to positively impact uptime and availability. Adopting the right Planning and Scheduling process checks can make sure critical work is scheduled for the right assets, at the right time and is planned with the right resources.

New Mobile Technologies: Intuitive Feel Technologies

The new generation workforce requires Intuitive Feel Technologies. If the application cannot be used immediately after being downloaded, it is simply deleted. Due to the pace at which smartphones and applications are developed, intuitive feel applications are no more a novelty – they're a requirement! This intuitive feel can be brought to the asset management space. Just imagine how great it would be if you could simply take a picture of a failure with your phone, message it to a number and a works-order is created! This technology is available and it can address different requirements. Our presentation will focus on the newest technologies available to the modern workspace in Asset Management.

Who Owns the Asset Master Data in Today’s Asset-Intensive Environments?

Today’s asset master data systems of record frequently cut across multiple organisations including Plant Maintenance, Plant Engineering, Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA).  As organisations contemplate digitalisation initiatives to achieve an integrated digital core, the importance of achieving accurate information about critical assets take on new urgency.  This complex information will form the basis for broader, faster corporate analysis and decisions.
