Internet of Things Deep Dive – Redefining Asset Management in the Digital World with Asset Network Solutions and Connected Assets

A tidal wave of change is upending the traditional world of asset management. Powerful technology innovations – powered by the Internet of Things (IoT), predictive analytics, augmented reality, pervasive mobility, and global business networks – are enabling the creation and analysis of data that is an order of magnitude larger in volume than what was available just a few years ago. Through a combination of real-life case-studies and cutting edge strategic impact from SAP, hear how the Internet of Things and connected assets are making data-driven decision making the new norm. Delegates will get the chance to interact and delve deeper into each speaker’s experience and subject matter expertise.

Asset Accounting Deep Dive

Opportunities for Integration - Alignment of Equipment and Functional Locations to Fixed Assets Assets to Accountants are items in the Balance Sheet with an acquisition value, depreciation and a net book value – whereas in EAM, assets are technical objects with manufacturers, operating instructions, spare parts, engineering limits and troubleshooting guides. This session will examine the differences in assets registered in SAP Financial Accounting versus SAP Plant Maintenance and cover what options in SAP exist to align assets and equipment, along with things to look out for on your alignment journey. Defending Maintenance Investment Proposals Using Predictive Risk Models In response to the increasing regulatory scrutiny in reviewing the asset maintenance investment proposals, an electric utility adapted an extremely transparent approach. For hundreds of thousands of assets from a diverse portfolio, the unique risks were calculated at a unit asset level using SAP PM data (attribute, inspection, test data etc.). This case study shows the framework and key steps taken to develop the predictive risk model for linear and non-linear physical assets as well as software control systems. Prior to this model, the last asset risk analysis took over 6 months for 10 assets classes and only focused on typically the 10% worst performing assets. Now, the model can execute the same exercise in hours and covers all assets. Hear how:

  1. The risk analysis coverage improved 10-20 times (up from 5-10% to 100%).
  2. Analysis and reporting became fully automated, total savings around $400k per analysis for 10 major asset classes, additional cost saved around $40k per asset type per assessment.
  3. Analysis time per asset class down to 5 hours from 96 hours (95% reduction)

Trust, Mindset, Courage

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ski down a mountain at 100km/hr? How you might do this when you’re vision-impaired and being instructed by someone else acting as your eye sight? Would you have the courage to trust someone when they literally take your life into their hands? Jess Gallagher is the first and only Australian athlete (Olympic or Paralympic) to win both summer and winter Paralympic medals. At the age of 17, Jess was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative eye disease, impacting her sporting dreams as a netballer. Four years later she found the world of Paralympic sport. The multi-talented athlete has represented Australia in 3 sports: alpine skiing, athletics and track cycling. It’s somewhat ironic that the expert who might lead us into this future is one with low vision but an acute foresight around what it will take to thrive.

How a Global Manufacturing Company Transformed its Leadership Culture by Instilling “Fire Service Leadership”

What if we could transform organisations to foster a culture driven by common-purpose alignment with business stakeholders? What if we could shift our mindsets from being efficient to becoming adaptable? Would we be able to achieve a greater level of sustained adoption? And could we more rapidly exploit tangible benefits associated with deployed solutions? The fire service across the world accomplishes incredible feats every day, often against unparalleled adversity where achieving positive outcomes with limited resources is all in a day’s work. In this fascinating presentation, you will discover how Johns Manville have rooted Fire Service ethos within their IT philosophy. Alignment to a common sense of purpose, hyper-focused execution, and supreme team camaraderie are all traits contributing to pushing the limits of solution innovation and benefit realisation at Johns Manville.

Putting the Power of SAP in the Hands of Field Operators with Easy-to-Use Mobile Apps

Fortune 500 Company, Devon Energy, has improved both asset data quality and capture with rapid development and deployment of mobile solutions. They’ve achieved this with agile development methodology. This has resulted in better EAM data analysis (integration of SAP master and transactional data) – advancing Devon’s ability to maintain and manage critical production equipment. Watch a live demo of the app and hear Greg share the project’s tangible successes:

  • Deployment of mobile app to 50 pilot users in the field
  • Estimated time savings of 4 hours/week/user through reduction of manual documentation
  • Improved quality of leak detection inspections data
  • Adherence to Leak Detection and Repair LDAR requirements for leak remediation (within 30 days of detection)

How to Drive Innovation and Capitalise on Technological Advances to Develop the Business of the Future

Our ultimate aim is the use of technology to make labour more effective – so we can maximise business performance and make more money. We want people to make better decisions not standard decisions, becoming more effective not just efficient. We need to utilise technological advances for our benefit and capitalise on the integration of operational technology and information technology. Join senior SAP Asset Management and Supply Chain customers and experts. They will share how tangible and measurable outcomes are being demonstrated through some of the most cutting edge technologies such as connected assets, robotics, automation, wearables, 3d printing, augmented reality and the Internet of Things whilst future proofing their existing systems and understanding how to maximise future Return on Investment.

How SAP is Enabling You to Get More Insight from Your Asset System

While there is a strong demand through ISO 55001 for getting a more comprehensive and holistic picture on how your assets are actually performing, there are also quantum leaps in technology to help you get there. In fact, business IT and operational technologies are merging more and more, while collaboration alongside the asset lifecycle is more needed than ever. SAP has addressed these challenges by providing capabilities to blend shop-floor data with traditional business information, adding predictive forecasting and simulation capabilities to the equation. At the same time, moving the Business Suite functionality to S/4HANA provides the user with unprecedented analytical capabilities in real-time. All this must be based on accurate asset information in terms of both master and performance data, being shared in an ecosystem of manufacturer, service provider, and operator. In this keynote session, Achim will provide you with a comprehensive picture how SAP's EAM portfolio will support your journey into the future and how systems are converging – shaping a completely new landscape. SAP is currently integrating various functionality and technology to allow for balancing cost, risk, and performance.
